MATRIX RELOADED star Carrie-Anne Moss is preparing to give birth to her first child - and she's "very interested" to see what the painful process will be like.

The action heroine is due to give birth next month (JUN03) to her first baby with director STEVEN ROY - but Moss is unconcerned by the prospect of going through the excruciating pain of childbirth for the first time, and has even been doing some specialist research into the process.

She explains, "I'm not scared of birth. I'm very interested in it. It's one of my passions. I love to read about it and I've been to three births - friends have been kind enough to let me be there - so I'm looking forward to it."

And Moss is particularly pleased with the timing of her pregnancy - as it comes months before the release of the third Matrix installment, MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.

She explains, "We didn't chose the moment. It just happened when it was supposed to. But it's a good time. The third Matrix doesn't come out until November (03), so I can take time off and enjoy it."
