Broadway and Hollywood legend Carol Channing has been forced to scrap her CAROL CHANNING + FRIENDS concert in San Francisco on Thursday (25Sep08) after fracturing her hip in a fall at her home.
The actress/comedienne was scheduled to hit the stage at the Herbst Theatre for the show, which was to launch the Hello Carol exhibition - a celebration of Channing's life and career.
The exhibition is still scheduled to run at the Museum of Performance + Design from Friday (26Sep08).
In a statement, Channing says, "It's a painful and temporary setback... I promise to return to San Francisco in the future."
The cancellation marks the first time in her 70 year career that Channing has been forced to scrap a performance.
