Simon and the actor briefly dated in the early 1970s.
Music fans have always debated who Carly Simon’s 1972 classic ‘You’re So Vain’ could be about, but it’s Warren Beatty’s name which comes up most often. Now the singer has finally revealed that Beatty did at least inspire part of the song, namely it’s second verse.
Carly Simon has revealed Warren Beatty inspired ‘You're So Vain’s’ second verse.
Speaking to People magazine, Simon said, ”I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren.” When asked if the actor was aware that he inspired a verse in the song Simon joked, "Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!”
The legendary singer/songwriter and bright young thing Swift played a joint version of the track during a sold out performance on Saturday (27 July)
'You're So Vain' duet between Taylor Swift and Carly Simon delights fans at Swift's second sold out performance in Massachusetts. The 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' singer was joined on stage by one of her heroes, Simon, during her second sold-out performance at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, to give fans a concert experience to remember.
Swift couldn't wait to unveil her special guest on Saturday night
The two performed Simon's hit 'You're So Vain' for the packed out crowd, who lapped up ever second of the once in a lifetime occasion. During Saturday's (27 July) concert at the 55,000 capacity stadium, Swift introduced Simon towards the end of her set to perform the iconic track, one that has no doubt influenced Swift's own songwriting (if you haven't heard the song, it's about a break-up). Clearly excited to unleash her special guest to the unsuspecting audience, Swift told the crowd before the duet; "Before I bring out my special guest, I have this question that I always, always had, and I think of you you have probably had this question, too, and wondered what the answer is. Who is the song 'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon written about?"
A week in music videos... Kanye West has been doing a lot of promotion for his edgy, rock-infused track 'Black Skinhead' (or 'BLKKK SKKKN HEAD' as it's otherwise known'), the lead single from his US and UK number one album 'Yeezus', so his anger when the unfinished video directed by Nick Knight was leaked earlier in July was unsurprising. He described the unauthorised distribution as 'heartbreaking' and no wonder; a video as unique as this was definitely worthy of a grand entrance but, nonetheless, the spoiler has definitely not affected the viewing experience.Watch the video for BLKKK SKKKN HEAD here.
French house star Kavinsky has already become a hit in his home nation with his debut album 'OutRun', released earlier this year, reaching number 2 in the charts and he's certainly turning heads overseas too. Teaming up with Canadian producer The Weeknd on one of his newest singles, Kavinsky delivers a driving dance beat with 'Odd Look' - the single from his new EP of the same name. The track also features on his album as a collaboration with fellow electronic musician SebastiAn. Listen to Odd Look here.
Carly Simon revealed the identity of the mystery man in 'You're So Vain' to Taylor Swift. Simon performed on stage in Massachusetts with Swift and praised her performance.
Carly Simon's famous 'You're So Vain' continues to raise questions 41 years after its release. Taylor Swift has revealed Simon confided the identity of the song's subject. Swift, unfortunately, is sworn to secrecy.

There are a variety of theories regarding who the mystery man could be. Simon had a number of relationships with high profile men such as Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Cat Stevens and Simon's former husband James Taylor. None of the aforementioned was particularly renowned for their modesty.

We wonder if Carly Simon told Taylor Swift who the song is about?
“Before I bring out my special guest, I have this question that I've always, always had,” Swift told the Gillette Stadium audience before the 1970s singer stepped out, “I think a lot of you have probably had this question too, always wondered what the answer is. Who is this song, 'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon, written about?”
After the show, Swift took to Twitter to gush about signing with her hero, “Got to sing 'You're So Vain' with Carly Simon at Gillette Stadium tonight!!!!!” adding, “Unreal. I could not possibly look up to her more.”
