Rita Wilson was left almost speechless after singing an impromptu duet with her idol Carly Simon at a mutual friend's wedding.
The actress has enjoyed success with her singing career, but she gained a new confidence after performing with the You're So Vain star.
During an interview with the hosts of U.S. chat show The Talk on Monday (28Mar16), Rita showed off a photo of her sitting alongside Carly, and revealed they became wedding singers.
"That was an impromptu thing," she explained. "It was at a girlfriend's wedding at Martha's Vineyard (Massachusetts). Carly lives there. She was invited as a guest and she wanted to sing and there was a band up there, but she has been well known for having stagefright. So she asked if I would get up on the stage and sing with her.

Veteran Singer/songwriter Carly Simon Made Sure Her Children Were Comfortable With Her Including Stories About Their Father James Taylor In Her Memoir Before She Added Them.
The stars were married for 11 but endured a turbulent split in 1983, due to infidelity on both sides as Taylor battled a serious drug addiction.
Simon and Taylor have not spoken since the split, but she has opened up about their relationship in her new memoir, Boys in the Trees, and not wanting to upset the couple's children, Sally and Ben, with revelations about their father, she read them parts of the book before they were published.
"I read them sections," she tells Live! with Kelly and Michael. "Sally is just really reading it (book) for the first time whole now and she says, 'Oh my God, I didn't realise it was (like) that!'
Singer/songwriter Carly Simon Suffered A Stuttering Setback As She Recalled Her Troubled Childhood For Her New Memoir.
The You're So Vain star details her life story in Boys in the Trees, and she admits writing about her broken home, which was caused by her mother's affair with a young live-in tennis instructor, briefly brought back the same speech impediment she struggled with when she was eight.
However, Simon, 70, admits putting pen to paper proved to be a form of therapy to help process her feelings about her past.
"I don't think I would have written it until I got to the vast old age of whatever I was when I started it, because you have to accumulate experience and the way you process it and I wanted to find out more," she explains to U.S. talk show host Stephen Colbert. "In fact..., the way of processing information was to write it down, see what it looked like on paper, and see what it brought forth as I was writing it.

The singer/songwriter was in bed with her groom-to-be James Taylor when the call came in from an upset Bianca Jagger.
Recalling the odd telephone chat in her new memoir Boys in the Trees, Carly writes, "James and I were in bed, getting ready for the big day, when the phone rang and James answered. It was Bianca Jagger.
"She told James that he shouldn't marry me because her husband and I were having an affair. She muttered some things I couldn't believe she was saying. Then James said, 'I'm sure that's not true. Carly has told me about it and it's not what you think. I trust my wife-to-be. I trust Carly'."

Carly Simon Is Set To Release Her Revealing Memoir Three Years After Inking Her First Book Deal.
The You're So Vain hitmaker initially secured an agreement with bosses at Random House to write an autobiography in 2012, but after a series of delays, she has finally finished her memoir, titled Boys in the Trees, which will be released on 24 November (15) through Flatiron Books.
In a statement announcing the tome, Simon teases she'll be revealing a lot of untold stories from her life that she's previously kept secret.
It reads: "This book is my way of going back through my childhood, my music, my romances, my marriage... and trying to make sense of it all. I've been working on it for so long that it feels like my third child... but now it's time to send that child out in the world. It's one of the most frightening - and exciting - things I've ever done."

The legendary singer/songwriter and bright young thing Swift played a joint version of the track during a sold out performance on Saturday (27 July)
'You're So Vain' duet between Taylor Swift and Carly Simon delights fans at Swift's second sold out performance in Massachusetts. The 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' singer was joined on stage by one of her heroes, Simon, during her second sold-out performance at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, to give fans a concert experience to remember.
Swift couldn't wait to unveil her special guest on Saturday night
The two performed Simon's hit 'You're So Vain' for the packed out crowd, who lapped up ever second of the once in a lifetime occasion. During Saturday's (27 July) concert at the 55,000 capacity stadium, Swift introduced Simon towards the end of her set to perform the iconic track, one that has no doubt influenced Swift's own songwriting (if you haven't heard the song, it's about a break-up). Clearly excited to unleash her special guest to the unsuspecting audience, Swift told the crowd before the duet; "Before I bring out my special guest, I have this question that I always, always had, and I think of you you have probably had this question, too, and wondered what the answer is. Who is the song 'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon written about?"
A week in music videos... Kanye West has been doing a lot of promotion for his edgy, rock-infused track 'Black Skinhead' (or 'BLKKK SKKKN HEAD' as it's otherwise known'), the lead single from his US and UK number one album 'Yeezus', so his anger when the unfinished video directed by Nick Knight was leaked earlier in July was unsurprising. He described the unauthorised distribution as 'heartbreaking' and no wonder; a video as unique as this was definitely worthy of a grand entrance but, nonetheless, the spoiler has definitely not affected the viewing experience.Watch the video for BLKKK SKKKN HEAD here.
French house star Kavinsky has already become a hit in his home nation with his debut album 'OutRun', released earlier this year, reaching number 2 in the charts and he's certainly turning heads overseas too. Teaming up with Canadian producer The Weeknd on one of his newest singles, Kavinsky delivers a driving dance beat with 'Odd Look' - the single from his new EP of the same name. The track also features on his album as a collaboration with fellow electronic musician SebastiAn. Listen to Odd Look here.

There are a variety of theories regarding who the mystery man could be. Simon had a number of relationships with high profile men such as Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Cat Stevens and Simon's former husband James Taylor. None of the aforementioned was particularly renowned for their modesty.
