The woman responsible for international sensation 'Call Me Maybe', Carly Rae Jepsen, has just released the video for her new single "This Kiss" from her 2nd studio album, "Kiss".

Jepson is currently on tour with Justin Bieber, and she's signed to the same record label as him, all of which implies that her career is on the up. This new video sees her at an '80s themed party, in which she's hanging with her friends before spying someone who's "just [her] type" and skidaddling off with him. The video has been compared favourably to No Doubt's video for "New" (MTV) and rather less favourably to Avril Lavigne (Canada.com). Indeed, it does appeal to the original audience of Lavigne's Sk8er Boi, but as Carly's 26 it all seems a little immature. While it's perfectly satisfactory pop and her album has already reached decent levels in the charts of many countries, it's doubtful that this song or this video will have quite the impact or legacy of either of those aforementioned artists.

The video is directed by Justin Francis who has been responsible for some excellent music videos for artists including Eminem, The Mars Volta, Gwen Stefani and The Cure, among others.
