Jenny Packham is hoping to give classic designs a modern twist in her new ready-to-wear spring/summer 2014 collection.
Jenny Packham's new collection will put a fresh spin on traditional techniques.
The British fashion designer - whose clothes have been worn by the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and Adele - has just begun working on her spring/summer 2014 collection and hinted what fans can expect from the new line.
It has been an eventful year for Jenny, who will showcase a variety of ready-to-wear and evening looks at New York Fashion Week this September before her bridal show in October.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Annual FiFi UK Fragrance Awards 2013 in London last week (16.05.13) she teased: ''It always starts off as one idea but it ends up as something different.
''At the moment it's using a lot of old classics, like tweeds, checks and pleating and techniques that have been in the industry for hundreds of years while seeing if we can modernise them. That is just a very initial idea!''
Jenny is especially pleased how successful her coveted bridal collection has been among American brides-to-be with thanks to the global phenomenon of British period drama 'Downton Abbey' and its retro fashion.
Asked about her plans for the future, she said: ''Bridal is really taking off thanks to the American obsession with 'Downton Abbey'. We've done a cosmetic bag with Lancôme, we're continuing our work with Debenhams, and we did our own line.
''[We're focused on] growing the collections, and we've also got a lingerie collection that we've been working on for a couple of years - which is probably the most expensive lingerie collection in the world. It's selling well in very niche places.''
With Cannes Film Festival in full swing, Jenny has caught 'Great Gatsby' fever and has been inspired by the red carpet glamour of the past week.
