It's been rumoured that the trans-Atlantic chart-topper Adele performed at Marcus Mumford and Carey Mulligan 's wedding on the weekend. Last week, The Sun reported that the London-based singer and songwriter had been asked to entertain the happy couple and their guests at the special event, which took place in the West Country.
A source close to Adele told reporters that she'd snapped up the offer to perform live at their nuptials, saying "Carey and Marcus are both huge fans of Adele and there will be millions of couples jealous that she is singing for them. Adele has always wanted to work with Mumford And Sons so when Marcus asked her to play at his wedding she said yes" before adding that it would be a nice opportunity for Adele to sing to an audience, as she's not had much of an opportunity since recovering from the surgery she had on her vocal cords last last year. So far, no confirmation has been given that Adele sang at the reception, though it's not been denied either.
What we do know, courtesy of US Weekly, is that Jake Gyllenhaal and Sienna Miller were both on the guest list for the intimate wedding. And MTV News have confirmed that the actor Colin Firth (an old friend of Mulligan's) made a speech to congratulate the happy couple. Apparently, "he was his charming self and had the room in fits."
