Organisers of France's Cannes Film Festival banned actress Kiera Chaplin from getting naked and parading down the event's red carpet on horseback last week (ends13MAY05) to promote her new movie LADY GODIVA: BACK IN THE SADDLE.

The granddaughter of legendary silent movie star Charlie Chaplin had planned to bare all to publicise her film, about the unrest between the English and the increasingly influential Norman French in medieval Britain, which led to the militant bride's famous ride.

But the movie's producer FRANK SACKS insists the Mayor of Cannes and local gendarmes gave the stunt the thumbs up, so he's launched an appeal against the festival authorities for forbidding it.
