Candice Crawford, the KDAF-TV anchor and former 'Miss Missouri', has announced her engagement to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, reports People Magazine. Crawford was celebrating her 24th birthday with family and friends at the Five Sixty restaurant in Dallas yesterday (16th December 2010) when Romo popped the question.
Romo is the former boyfriend of Jessica Simpson and he began dating Crawford shortly after splitting from the singer back in July 2009. Nick Lachey, another of Simpson's exes, announced his engagement to new girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo back in November 2010. Speaking about Romo on the David Letterman show earlier this year, Simpson said, "Tony is great - still a friend of mine. I still look at his cute butt in the outfit - uniform".
Crawford is currently a sports reporter for the local Dallas TV station KDAF-TV, and is the sister of 'Gossip Girl' star Chace Crawford. On the TV station's website, she lists her hobbies as sports, running, basketball, cooking, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was named 'Miss Missouri' in 2008 after finishing second the previous year.
