The 55-year-old, who appeared in films Jurassic Park and Hook, was arrested in connection to allegations he took advantage of an aspiring actress between 2008 and 2009, after she approached him for acting lessons.

He was charged with 13 criminal counts last year (14), but on Friday (19Jun15), prosecutors told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Martin Herscovitz they were dropping six of the charges, including kidnapping and aggravated assault, against Thor.

He still stands accused of the remaining seven counts of performing lewd acts on a child and his trial has been set for 7 July (15).

However, his attorney, James Blatt, is hopeful the case will not make it to trial.

A statement released to Deadline.com on Friday reads: "Today, half the charges were dismissed, including the most serious charges, which carried a potential life sentences (sic). We are hoping for a similar outcome at the next court appearance."
