Calvin Harris has broken his silence about his split with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift as he was spotted out and about driving his car, just over a week after his car crash that has caused him to cancel a number of live appearances.

32 year old Harris – whose real name is Adam Wiles – is reported to be the one who ended things after the couple had dated for 15 months. While he remained quiet about whether that was true, he did take to Twitter in order to assure fans that the break-up had been as amicable as can be expected in the circumstances, and that they remain on good terms.

“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect (sic),” the Scottish DJ wrote in a message that was later re-tweeted by 26 year old Swift.

He was also snapped behind the wheel of his Range Rover in Beverly Hills on Thursday, just hours after news of the split got out.

A source had told E! News on Wednesday that “this all happened last week. Taylor and Adam had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them. Adam is the one that ended it. It was all done in a very mature fashion. Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication. Taylor was there for Adam with his accident and supportive.”

As for Swift, she’s made no comment about the split, spending some time with her family who are helping her get over it.

“She was in Nashville with her family and they have been helping her through the break up,” the same source said.

“Taylor was really disappointed in Calvin and felt like he wasn't there for her. The relationship wasn't progressing the way she wanted it to. She felt like he wasn't taking it seriously enough and wouldn't come through for her when she needed him most. She felt down and like her needs weren't being met. She doesn't want to get back together.”
