Colombiana Review

OK
This preposterously overwrought revenge thriller is entertaining simply because it so rarely pauses for breath. It makes virtually no sense if you think about it, and the writing and direction are mostly incoherent. But it's also guilty good fun.

In Colombia, feisty 9-year-old Cataleya (Stenberg) witnesses her parents' massacre of by Marco (Molla), henchman the drug kingpin Luis (Benites). Years layer (now Saldana) she's in Chicago, where she's been raised by her uncle (Curtis) to be a stealthy assassin. Now she's trying to draw Marco and Luis out of protective CIA custody by leaving clues at each murder scene. And it seems to be working. With an FBI agent (James) on her trail and a boyfriend (Vartan) who knows nothing, she's playing a dangerous game.

Caffeine Review

Terrible
Something's always brewing at the Black Cat Café, or so they say. The advertisers behind the new independent film Caffeine want us to believe there's plenty of activity at the quirky London café. Sadly, it's not so. In fact, it's so boring that even a double-shot espresso isn't strong enough to keep to your eyes open.

Caffeine follows a series of odd events during the lunch rush at the Black Cat Café, where one disaster after another is served up as the day's "blue plate special." For example, the cook (Callum Blue) is fired by the manager, Rachel (Marsha Thomason), after she finds out he's been unfaithful to her. Rachel has no one else qualified to cook, so she throws the chef's hat to a server named Tom (Mark Pellegrino), who can't even make lasagna from a written recipe. But Rachel has no other choices. Her two other employees, Vanessa (Mena Suvari) and Dylan (Breckin Meyer) spend more time on smoke breaks then they do serving coffee.

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement Review

Bad
How's this for timing: Almost three years to the day after the release of the original The Princess Diaries, and on the heels of its sparkling new special edition DVD, we get the follow-up Diaries in theaters! You knew the sequel would eventually follow - after all, we just have to see the little princess take her throne.

Now a college graduate, Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) has returned to her home country of Genovia to celebrate her 21st birthday. According to Genovian law, she is eligible to replace her widely popular grandmother (Julie Andrews) as the queen. Unfortunately for the young Mia, the law also states that a princess must be married before she is crowned. Complicating matters further, Viscount Mabrey (John Rhys-Davies) demands that his nephew Sir Nicholas (Chris Pine) is the rightful heir to the throne. What's a princess to do?
