Cali Swag District rapper M-BONE was killed last night (15th May 2011) after he was the victim of a driver-by shooting, reports MTV News. Cali Swag District fans were stunned when the group's leader C-SMOOVE announced the tragic news on his Twitter page, saying his life had "changed drastically".
M-BONE, real name Montae Talbert, was one fourth of the rap group that rose to fame with their hit single 'Teach Me How to Dougie'. C-SMOOVE was first to announce news of M-BONE's death, tweeting, "Ma life changed drastically in the blink of an eye. rip mbone". Inglewood Police Department Homicide Sgt. BRIAN SPENCER had since confirmed that the rapper died of two gunshot wounds to the head. Police were called to the 400 block of North Le Brea at around 10.30pm and found Talbert in the driver's seat of a black vehicle with two gunshot wounds to the head. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed M-Bone to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Eyewitnesses confirm that the rapper was seated in his car when the gunmen pulled alongside him in a separate vehicle and fired two rounds before fleeing northbound on La Brea.
Cali Swag District, signed to Capitol Records, are best known for their smash hit 'Teach me How to Dougie', a song about the dance popularized by hip-hop artist DOUG E. Fresh. The group's debut album 'The Kickback' is scheduled to hit shelves 2011, but it is not known how M-Bone's death will affect the record's release.
