Transgender Former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner Has Been Granted Permission To Legally Change Her Name And Gender.
Kim Kardashian's stepfather, formerly known as Bruce, filed papers earlier this month (Sep15) asking a judge to formally declare her a woman.
The petition was lodged months after Jenner confirmed long-running rumours of her gender change in a U.S. news special earlier this year (15), and the request was approved by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg on Friday (25Sep15).
Sections of the court paperwork, including medical history, were sealed to protect Jenner's privacy after revealing she had received "unwelcome negative attention from private citizens" after going public with her transition.
The 65 year old, born William Bruce Jenner, did not attend the brief hearing.
She will now be permitted to apply for new government documents under her chosen name Caitlyn Marie Jenner.
However, not everyone has adapted to calling Jenner by her new name - her daughter Kendall Jenner recently admitted she still calls her "Dad".
"It's been a ride, for sure," the model, 19, told Women's Wear Daily. "But I've known since I was a kid. He never confirmed it to me, but I've known for a very long time. It's the same person. My dad says it herself sometimes, it's kind of like mourning the loss of someone, because it is.
"My dad is my dad, but he's not there physically anymore. But she lets me call her 'Dad' - that's the last little piece of Dad I've got."
