Jerk It Out
Song From The Latest I-Pod Shuffle
"This is straight from the garage; bran-mashed guitars, moonshine organs and enough inbred rock'n' roll to make Jack and Meg blush”
On 18 April Caesars will release the single Jerk It Out- the theme, currently on screens, as the latest i-pod shuffle.
Jerk It Out is fully calibrated pop with fuzzy guitars and howling organs, refreshingly filled with the infectious riffs, hooks and harmonies of the obscure 60s teenage bands that inspired the Ramones while having a rhythmic sensibility and production effects that are more akin to electronic music turntablists than rock music guitarists. Think of them as garage rock for the digital age. Caesar's play with the same genuine glow as obscure 60's teenage band they grew up listening to.
Caesars hail from Sweden and comprise of: Cesar Vidal (Vocals), Jocke Ahlund (Guitar), David Lindquist (Bass) and Nino Kellar (Drums). The band's founding members go back a long way, to kindergarten in fact. "I met Jocke when I was about 2 years old and we've both always been into music," says Csar. "I wanted to form a band and needed musicians to produce the sound I wanted. I got Jocke to join, and he suggested getting David on bass." "I originally played bass," says Jocke. "I didn't consider myself as a guitarist, rather I saw myself as a songwriter and instrumentalist. I was cheating my way through guitar. In fact I still am."
Commenting on the fuzzy meaning of Jerk It Out, Ahlund said, “It means to just let out some steam, freak out, let yourself go, get crazy etc. All that stuff. Don’t feel ashamed of your different and weird sides ‘cause they’re what makes you beautiful.”
Caesars next album of garage rock-power pop is called Paper Tigers and it will be released on 25 April.
