The decision to remake Buffy The Vampire Slayer without original creator Joss Whedon has caused controversy within the film world, and Whedon himself has expressed his disappointment at the project. The American screenwriter and director was responsible for transforming the original 1992 movie starring Donald Sutherland into a multi-award winning television series, but he has been excluded from working on the forthcoming remake.
The UK's Daily Telegraph were scathing in their reaction to the news, saying, "Presenting a feature spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer without the involvement of creative mastermind Joss Whedon, not to mention any of the cast, is like trying to bake a pizza without the dough". Kristy Swanson, who played 'Buffy' in the original movie, was more welcoming of the project, telling the New York Magazine, "There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so. He's a brilliant man, no doubt. But I love everything Buffy. I don't care who's doing it".
WHIT ANDERSON, the American actress best known for her role in the movie 'Yes Man', has been given the job of writing the new film. Producer Charles Roven said in a statement, "There is an active fan base eagerly awaiting this character's return to the big screen".
