'Homeland' Star Damian Lewis Receives O.B.E. At Buckingham Palace

Damian Lewis has spoken of his “big, big surprise” at being awarded an OBE by Prince William at Buckingham Palace. The investiture ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon, where Lewis was given the OBE (Order of the British Empire) by the Duke of Cambridge.

Accompanied by his wife Helen McCrory, also an actress, Lewis recalled hearing the news of his award: “I was stupified, I had no idea, so it was a big, big surprise. It was a little bit like "now you've got to prove it". It was a bit like being asked to be a prefect, now I have to be extremely responsible.”

Video - Prince Harry Presents Wheelchair Marathon Winners' Trophies In Front Of Palace


HRH Prince Harry presents two of the 2012 London Wheelchair Marathon winners Wakako Tsuchida (Japan) and Marcel Hug (Switzerland) with their trophies and poses for photos.

Wakako, who was the first professional wheelchair athlete from Japan, came in second out of the women with a time of 01:53:04, just under 4 minutes behind Paralympic athlete Shelly Woods of Great Britain. Fastest of all was David Weir of Great Britain, who had won three London Marathons in a row up to 2008, with a time of 01:32:26 who narrowly beat Marcel by a second

After presenting the 2012 London Marathon winners Edna Kiplagat (Kenya), Martin Lel (Kenya), Mary Keitany (Kenya), Wilson Kipsang (Kenya), Priscah Jeptoo (Kenya) and Adil Annani (Morocco) with their trophies, HRH Prince Harry poses with them near the finish line outside Buckingham Palace - the official residence and office of the British Queen.

The 32nd Marathon has turned out to be the biggest ever as well as being the second-fastest. Fastest of all this year was Wilson Kipsang while Mary Keitany became the fastest African ever and retained her women's title with the time of 2:18:37

2012 London Marathon winners Edna Kiplagat (Kenya), Martin Lel (Kenya), Mary Keitany (Kenya), Wilson Kipsang (Kenya), Priscah Jeptoo (Kenya) and Adil Annani (Morocco) shake hands with HRH Prince Harry as he presents them with their trophies and gets up to pose for a photo. The fastest celebrity was 38-year-old model Nell McAndrew who is reported to have broken the three hour mark by six minutes.

The 27-year-old prince is set to receive a humanitarian leadership award on behalf of himself and the Duke of Cambridge, his brother Prince William. This is in recognition of his work supporting servicemen and women
