Adapted from Robert Mazur's autobiography of the same name, Cranston plays a customs and excise agent working under his undercover alias Bob Musella. The book was Mazur's account of bringing down the unscrupulous bankers who manipulated complex international finance systems to serve drug lords - including the fearsome Pablo Escobar - corrupt politicians and terrorists.

The movie will document Musella's "big day", when he brought down Columbia's biggest underworld players in one location.

Cranston's involvement appears to stem from his work with Furman on The Lincoln Lawyer.

Martin Rushton-Turner, co-founder and senior financier of Good Films, said the production company's forthcoming slate of movies would fulfil what Good Films set out to do, which is to make "intelligent, quirky and original films with integrity."

Good Films - known for Good with Viggo Mortensen and The Great Ghost Rescue - are also working on crime-thriller The Postcard Killings and drama Invisible.
