R&B stars Bruno Mars and Rihanna have topped a new list of the most pirated artists of 2013.

The singers have enjoyed huge success on pop charts around the world, but they've also proved popular on illegal file-sharing websites, with both musicians racking up more than five million illegal downloads each over the past 12 months, despite not releasing albums since 2012.

Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake were also big hits on Bit Torrent sites, with around four million downloads each, according to data compiled by analysts at Musicmetric.com.

Rapper Flo Rida rounds out the top five on the poll, while Kanye West, Eminem, Jay Z and Drake also feature high on the list.

Representatives for the website revealed last week (ends27Dec13) that unauthorised downloads of Beyonce's new self-titled album cost the superstar an estimated $3.8 million (£2.53 million) in sales, and the 240,000 illegal hits landed her a place in the top 20 of Musicmetric's end of year poll, too.
