Sometimes artists wear their influences on their sleeves.
Adele's new song 'Hello' has had the internet going crazy these past few weeks; people are excited for the release of her upcoming comeback album '25' and thus have this across-the-board number one on repeat. However, as with a lot of hit tracks, it hasn't been without its criticism and in this case people are commenting on the remarkable similarity to a Californian storyteller we all know and love.
Adele waves 'Hello' to Tom Waits with new single
The Tom Waits comparison has, in itself, been critized; but whatever people say, the fact can't be ignored that the lyrics to 'Hello' do bare remarkable parallels with Waits' 1973 song 'Martha'. Both dictate a phonecall to a long lost lover, reminiscing about their early days and reflecting on their young, foolish selves. It's not exactly a copy, merely a divine inspiration.

If true, it would be the second time that the 'Uptown Funk!' singer has had the honour, following his performance in the 2014 edition.
Following his spot on one of the biggest pop hits of all time in the last 12 months, R&B / pop star Bruno Mars has apparently been asked by the NFL to perform during the Super Bowl half-time show for the second time in his career, according to reports by multiple media outlets.
Since he last took on the prestigious honour in 2014, Bruno has featured on Mark Ronson’s ginormo-hit ‘Uptown Funk!’, which has been almost certainly the biggest hit of the decade so far and spent an incredible 14 weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100. Insiders familiar with the situation are indicating on Wednesday (September 9th) that this extraordinary success has persuaded the NFL to extend their invitation for a second time.

Artists such as Ed Sheeran and Mark Ronson have helped boost UK streaming figures.
The streaming revolution has gained some serious steam in Britain, as for the first time ever more than 500 million songs were streamed online in a single week. It’s the first time the number of weekly streams has hit the half a billion mark and it’s is nearly double the number of songs streamed just a year ago.
Ed Sheeran is 2015’s most streamed artist so far.
The 505 million streams happened in the chart week ending July 16th and takes into account services such as Spotify, Deezer and Google. 2015 is said to have seen 11.5 billion streams to date, with more than 25 billion streams being predicted by the end of the year. According to The Guardian, when YouTube is included, the total is expected to top 50 billion.

The track which features Bruno Mars has racked up over 45 million streams so far this year.
Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk, featuring Bruno Mars, has been named the most streamed track of 2015 so far, in a list compiled by OfficialCharts.com. The track has already notched up just over 45 million streams since January, giving it a total of 51.3 million since its release last December.
Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ is the year’s most streamed song so far.
The year’s second most streamed track is reggae-pop hit ‘Cheerleader’ from OMI, which has been streamed over 40 million times. The track was released back in April and hit the number one spot during its third week of release.

Is this the first signs of the post-'Blurred Lines' legal ruling coming into effect?
The biggest selling single of the year so far has seen a significant change to its writing credits. Mark Ronson’s record-breaking ‘Uptown Funk!’ now includes the writers of The Gap Band’s 1979 hit ‘Oops Up Side Your Head’.
It’s not clear as to how this alteration came about – there have been no court cases or lawsuits in the offing – but five extra names are now included on Ronson’s hit, according to Music Week. They are The Gap Band’s three members Ronnie Wilson, Charles Wilson and Robert Wilson as well as producers Lonnie Simmons and Rudolph Taylor.

Bruno Mars collaboration marks his first chart-topper.
Mark Ronson is no stranger to the UK Singles Chart, but the surprising success of his collaborative hit with Bruno Mars, 'Uptown Funk', has seen him finally at number one - for a full seven consecutive weeks.
Mark Ronson is a UK Chart fix right now
The funk-infused single has gone multi-Platinum since its release in November 2014, and became the first release from his number one fourth album 'Uptown Special'; an album which also featured collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Andrew Wyatt, Jeff Bhasker and Mystikal. His previous most famous single was his cover of The Zutons' 'Valerie' with the late Amy Winehouse; a much loved hit that surprisingly only reached number two in the UK, though with a Platinum certification.

Lenny Kravitz will join Katy Perry when she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Both the album and single charts are looking excessively loved up in the first week of the year.
This week in the UK Singles Chart, Mark Ronson held onto the top spot with his single Uptown Funk, featuring Bruno Mars. The catchy tune maintains its position for the third non-consecutive week, having set a streaming record with 2.5 million plays in its third week on top. The song’s combined sales reached a total of over 156,000, presumably enough to take Mr. Ronson’s future children through university.
Mark Ronson is in his third week of UK Chart domination, alongside funk champion Bruno Mars.
In second place this week, there’s a finally a newcomer – Phillip George, a 21-year-old DJ entered the chart with his debut single, Wish You Were mine. The loved up theme holds strong throughout the chart with Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud taking the third spot this week. So does that mean that people are extending their winter cuddle time past the holidays and into January? That’s the only logical explanation for all these ballads.

The annual list's top ten is dominated by young musicians, filling nine of the ten positions.
Even if you hate him or love him, Justin Bieber is one wealthy 20-year-old. In his fourth year making the annual list, the Canadian megastar tops Forbes magazine's list of the highest-earning celebrities under 30 years old for the first time ever.
Bieber earned $80 million between June 2013 and June 2014
Bieber reached the No.1 spot by earning a whopping $80 million over a twelve month period from June 2013 to June 2014, the magazine confirmed on Monday (Nov 24th), who credited most of his annual income to the final part of the 'Baby' singer's recent world tour.
Did you really think that Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga were born with those names?
What’s in a name? Well for some celebrities things might have been very different if they hadn’t have changed theirs. Think Stefani Germanotta sounds like a star? What about Caryn Johnson? Things might have been very different for these 10 celebrities if they hadn’t found the perfect name to launch their careers.
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, my how you've changed
After the snappy, clever 2011 original, this sequel feels rather lazy by comparison: it's still visually colourful and sometimes witty, but the overcrowded story is all over the place, mixing wacky slapstick and corny satire with a political message. And none of this is edgy enough to make it memorable, except perhaps the addition of one new character, a deranged poisonous frog with delusions of romance, voiced by the riotously operatic Kristin Chenoweth.
At the centre again are the rare blue macaws Blu and Jewel (Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway), who now have three feisty kids at their bird sanctuary in Rio de Janeiro. Then their human keepers Tulio and Linda (Rodrigo Santoro and Leslie Mann) spot another blue macaw deep in the Amazon, so Blu and Jewel fly off to investigate with their children and buddies (including Will.i.am and Jamie Foxx). Sure enough, this turns out to be Jewel's long-lost family, overseen by her father (Andy Garcia) and guarded by her heartthrob ex Roberto (Bruno Mars). But there's an evil logger threatening the rainforest, and Blu's old nemesis Nigel the cockatoo (Jemaine Clement) is out for revenge.
After the oddly flat prologue in Rio, the film kicks up a gear when it arrives in the jungle, where the imagery becomes far more dense and colourful, leading to some wonderfully outrageous musical numbers and raucous action sequences. The level of detail is impressive, as is the range of creatures thrown into the story. But the script never quite rises to this level of invention, once again simplistically putting the city-bird Blu in an alien natural environment, with added in-laws and ex-boyfriends. Much more fun is Nigel's interaction with his poison-frog sidekick, even if his subplot never builds any steam.

NFL Super Bowl XLVIII saw RHCP fake it...
“Hang on a minute, their guitars aren’t plugged in to anything” an eagle-eyed Super Bowl viewer probably said somewhere in America. And he/she was right: while Anthony Kiedis sang alongside main performer Bruno Mars live, the others were just faking it.

If there were any doubts about Mars before, they've all been silenced now.
Besides a victory for the Seattle Seahawks – and a long overdue one at that – last night’s Super Bowl was also a triumph for Bruno Mars. Mars’ Half Time show with the Red Hot Chili Peppers was full of soul – no gimmicks, just good music. Well, maybe there was one gimmick. Time Magazine reports on the show. Mars’ performance kicked off with a song performed by a children’s choir, which, although it was cute, was undeniably only there for the cute factor. The song quickly segued into a drum solo by the multitalented Bruno himself, which was later taken over by his brother Eric Hernandez (Bruno Mars was originally born Peter Hernandez).
Mars refused to give away any details during his Super Bowl press conference last week.
Things got real as the golden jacket and skinny tie came out and Mars stretched out the good ol’ vocal chords with a performance of the eternal crowd pleaser Locked Out Of Heaven. His jumbo band of brass, backup singers and bass put the song across nicely. The synchronized dance to Treasure was just icing on the cake.

As Bruno Mars prepares to take the Superbowl halftime stage, he might want to look back at five of the best and worst performances in recent years.
Bruno Mars is hoping to ‘uplift the people’ this Sunday when he performs at the coveted Superbowl halftime slot. The ‘Greande’ singer is currently preparing for his set and of course making sure his trademark hairdo is in tact, telling a press conference, "I got three gallons of hairspray in this thing, so I'm good!"
Bruno Mars onstage at Radio 1's Big Weekend
The singer, who just picked up a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal album, will be joined onstage by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with Mars saying. "The first band I thought of was the Red Hot Chili Peppers - I've been a fan of theirs for such a long time, I admire their career."
While the idea of Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers sounds pretty spectacular you never can tell how a Superbowl halftime show is going to go down. Whilst it's fair to say that the performances are always memorable, sometimes its not really for the right reasons. To help Bruno prepare here's a look back at arguably five of the best and worst Superbowl half time shows in recent years.
Beyonce and Destiny's Child Superbowl XLVII (2013)
Bruno Mars barely teased some surprises tuning in for his Super Bowl halftime show on February 2.
While fans wonder whether Bruno Mars’ Super Bowl halftime show will live up to Beyonce’s from last year, Mars himself has much more modest goals. He just wants to get people dancing, as he said at a during a live press conference at the Rose Theater in New York City about the Pepsi halftime show. "Whatever happens, happens. I ain't scared if that's what you think."
Unlike Beyonce's show last year, Bruno Mars is keeping everything a surprise until the last minute.
Blu and Jewel believe that they are two of a kind as the only full grown blue macaws in existence as they make their home in a cosy Brazilian bird sanctuary with their fast-growing offspring. With Jewel developing itchy feet (or should that be talons?) and the 'babies' desperate to learn more about the world and their kind, the arrival of news of another flock of their kind deep in the Amazon rainforest sends Jewel reeling with excitement at the thought of vacating to the wild. Blu is less fond of the idea, now being comfortably accustomed to their artificial city lifestyle, but goes along on the adventure for the sake of Jewel. As they arrive in the jungle with their friends, they meet Jewel's formidable father and some old friends - and if that's not enough for Blu to worry about, Nigel the evil Sulphur-crested Cockatoo has also taken to the wild with revenge on his mind. But Nigel might not be the only thing to fear in the unpredictable Amazon wilderness.

Here are our predictions for the major categories.
The Grammy Awards are known as the biggest night in music, the music industry equivalent to the Oscars. Unlike the Oscars, however, the Grammys are much more accepting of newcommers and in fact, the award show airing this Sunday will feature plenty of debutants, competing with seasoned artists. So with that in mind, it’s about time for everyone to place their bets. Let’s see who the favorites are to sweep this year’s Grammys.
With seven nominations, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are expected to sweep the awards this year.
Record of the Year is one of the biggest categories at the award show. Out of the five nominees, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky seems like a no-brainer, but Lorde’s Royals, the unpredictable success of 2013 could come in and sweep this up last minute.

Bruno Mars has announced 40 dates for the second leg of his 'Moonshine Jungle' tour and has enlisted the help of Pharrell Williams and Aloe Blacc.
Bruno Mars has announced the dates for the second leg of his huge 'Moonshine Jungle' world tour. The 27 year-old wrapped up the first leg, starting June 2013 and ending the following November, which visited North America and Europe.
Bruno is also playing at this year's Super Bowl halftime show
Mars announced that music mogul Pharrell Williams will be joining him in select cities and Aloe Blacc will be the show's opening act for most of the dates.
The rockers are officially lined up to play this year's Super Bowl.
Last year Beyonce performed an unforgettable Super Bowl half time show and this year it’s Red Hot Chilly Peppers’ turn. The rockers have taken the torch, next they will take the stage in February, the NFL announced yesterday (Satuday, January 11th). They have big shoes to fill, but teaming up with Bruno Mars, who has already been announced as the lead performer means the show is sure to be surprising and unforgettable. Mars was announced to play the Super Bowl back in September of last year.
There can be few things cooler than a collaboration between RHCP and Bruno Mars.
The band will be joined by Bruno Mars. In fact, the Grenade singer was the one, who invited the rockers to collaborate with him during the televised performance, which will be broadcast live on Feb. 2 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., according to the Reuters. Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, have six Grammy Awards and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
The French music community said "non!" to the boys at the 15th NRJ Awards
One Direction were booed as they took to the stage at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France, last week (14 Dec.). Those Blue Macaws are back, and this time they’ve got parrot sprogs to account for. But the bustling streets of Rio isn’t a great place to bring up kids – all three of them, played by Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon and Amandla Stenberg – and besides, Jewel thinks it’s about time to discover her roots.
“We’re not people, Blu. We’re birds,” Jewell explains.

Blu and Jewel's babies are growing up fast and developing an eagerness to learn about the world outside their Brazilian bird sanctuary run by kind owners Linda and Tulio. The free-spirited Jewel is also getting itchy feet, with the death-defying adventures of 'Rio' now wearing off, and is determined to venture out into the Amazon rainforest to meet other blue macaws and teach her children about life in the jungle. Joining them once again are their colourful avian friends Pedro, Nico and Rafael, and Luiz the bulldog who, just like Blu, struggle to adapt to the wild. On their new journey, Jewel meets her father after a long time apart, though he is anything but warm towards her slightly awkward mate. The in laws are the least of Blu's worries though as Nigel the evil Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is set to return once again with a revenge scheme on his mind.
'Rio 2' is the brilliant and wacky sequel to 2011's 'Rio' and sees the return of director Carlos Saldanha ('Ice Age', 'Robots') with a new co-screenwriter Don Rhymer ('Big Momma's House', 'The Santa Clause 2'). As well as all your favourite characters from the original movie, you'll get to see a lot more adorable new creatures as it hits UK cinemas in 3D on April 4th 2014.

Th second day of the iHeartRadio Music Festival saw Justin Timberlake and Paul McCartney perform new material for the first time and Miley Cyrus becoming once again, the most talked about performer of the night.

Paul McCartney opened the second day of the music festival
But how did it match up to the festival's stellar opening day?
Bruno Mars has confirmed that he will be performing at Super Bowl 2014's half-time show.
Rumours began this weekend that the 'When I Was Your Man' singer will be playing the Super Bowl halftime show and on Sunday the truth finally surfaced. Bruno Mars was present for NFL's announcement on 'Fox NFL Sunday', alongside Fox co-host Terry Bradshaw and football analyst Michael Strahan at Times Square, announcing that he will be the halftime act.
Mars will have to pull out all the strings to top last year's halftime act as Beyoncé's performance was unforgettable to say the least. The multi-award winning singer performed hit singles such as 'Halo' and 'Crazy in Love' whilst dancing all around the stage and giving fans the rare treat of a 'Destiny's Child' reunion - Beyoncé definitely tore the house down.
Other winners on the night included Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and of course, One Direction
Sunday (25 August) night saw the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York taken over by the biggest names in pop for one night only, as the 29th annual MTV Video Music Awards took the recently-completed venue by storm in an awards show that, like most VMAs, will be long remembered. In all there were eleven different winners in the sixteen different categories, whilst the ceremony itself was an onslaught of musical surprises and memorable performances, as the VMAs continued to live up to it's billing as the 'Oscars for youth.'
Justin was the biggest winner on the night
The biggest winner of the night was pop's returning prince Justin Timberlake, who not only won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his services to the music industry, but also took home another three awards for two of his The 20/20 Experience music videos. His comeback single 'Suit & Tie' won Best Direction, whilst the follow-up single 'Mirrors earned the former N*Sync singer the Best Editing and the coveted Video of the Year Award. And speaking of N*Sync, during Timberlake's medley of hits prior to the Video Vanguard handing over, we were finally treated to the long-overdue reunion of N*Sync, who performed their memorable hits 'Girlfriend' and 'Bye Bye Bye.' We would have been more surprised, if it wasn't such a poorly kept secret.
The 2013 Teen Choice Awards, held last night (11th August) saw the likes of the Twilight cast; Pretty Little Liars; The Vampire Diaries and Glee taking home a full sized surf board as a trophy.
The 2013 Teen Choice was held last night, Sunday 11th August, at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. The event was star studded with attendees photographed on the red carpet including Selena Gomez, Lucy Hale, Brittany Snow, Michelle Rodriguez, Chloe Grace Moretz, Cher Lloyd and Naya Rivera.

Freaky megastar Lady Gaga has just been announced to be making her 'Artpop' return with a performance at MTV's video awards in August.
Lady GaGa has performed before at the MTV VMAs but it seems the prestigious, explosive awards ceremony can't get enough of the 'Bad Romance' singer's outlandish outfits and stage surprises. To date the 27 year-old pop star has 13 of MTV's shiny 'Moonmen' awards to her name with probably a few more to come.

The MTV Video Music Awards have been announced, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Timberlake sharing six nods.
The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 have been announced, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Timberlake leading the field. Armed with their videos for 'Can't Hold Us' and 'Thrift Shop,' the hip-hop duo will square off against JT at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25, 2013.
Both acts received six nominations, with Timberlake getting nods for his 'Suit and Tie' and 'Mirrors' promos. Elsewhere, Bruno Mars appears to have every chance of taking home the prize of 'Video of the Year' with 'Locked out of Heaven,' though Robin Thicke's controversial clip for 'Blurred Lines' and Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' will also be popular.
The VMAs - one of the biggest events on the pop music calendar - represents the first time a major awards show has been held in Brooklyn. The place has been a mecca for art and culture for years, though the Barclays Center appears to have truly put it on the map.
