Bruce Springsteen's longtime assistant TERRY MACGOVERN has died in his sleep. He was 67. MACGovern and Springsteen became firm friends in the early 1970s when the New Jersey Shore promoter hired the rocker's band to perform at a club he was managing. And while he was managing a club owned by Springsteen's bandmate Clarence Clemons, the Born In The U.S.A. hitmaker asked him to be his unofficial business partner sidekick. In 1987, MACGovern formally joined Springsteen to become his full-time assistant both on and off the road. A memorial service was held on Thursday (02Aug07).
