Brooke Shields has claimed her ex, former tennis player Andre Agassi, smashed his Wimbledon trophy along with other prize cups, in a jealous rage over her guest starring role in a 1995 episode of ‘Friends’.

Writing in her autobiography, There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story Of Mother And Me, the actress recalls how her then boyfriend stormed off the set of the popular sitcom after watching her film scenes with Matt LeBlanc.

In the episode Shields played a woman who stalked LeBlanc’s character Joey Tribbiani, believing he really was Dr Drake Ramoray (who Joey portrayed on ‘Days of Our Lives’). In one memorable scene, Shield’s character licks the fingers of LeBlanc during a dinner date.

However the actress claims this put the former tennis champ over the edge and that he stormed off the set saying, she had “made him look a fool”.

US magazine Globe then reports Shields writing that Agassi got in his car and drove all the way from Los Angeles to his home in Las Vegas. “Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open,” wrote Shields.

The actress also writes that it took her three years to replace the shattered prizes. Despite the incident, Shields and Agassi would eventually marry in 1997 but divorce just two years later.

Agassi had won Wimbledon in 1992 and would go on to take the Australian Open four times as well as two US Opens and the French Open, making him an eight time Grand Slam winner.

Writing about the couple’s marriage Shields says she realised she had made a “mistake” the day after the wedding. “I could not form a sentence. I kept shaking my head as if I had duct tape across my mouth. It hit me all of a sudden ... I did not want to be married,” she wrote.
