TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD star Brock Peters has died at his home in Los Angeles after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

The 78-year-old actor had been receiving chemotherapy since January (05).

The actor was born GEORGE FISHER in New York and he made his movie debuts in the 1950s in cult films CARMEN JONES and PORGY AND BESS.

But he's most famous for portraying falsely accused rapist TOM ROBINSON, opposite Gregory Peck, in 1962 movie To Kill A Mockingbird.

Peters is also beloved by Trekkers after playing ADMIRAL CARTWRIGHT in two Star Trek movies.

Among his many honours, the actor received a Tony Award nomination for his theatre performance in LOST IN THE STARS.
