Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser Trailer

Still stuck with a fairly ridiculous mullet, Joe Dirt returns after an unsuccessful attempt at reconnecting with his parents, who abandoned him as a child by the Grand Canyon. He seems to be in a better place now, living in a trailer with his new wife Brandy and their three triplet daughters, but things are about to be turned upside down yet again when a terrifying twister hits Silvertown. In Wizard Of Oz style, he finds himself suddenly transported into unfamiliar territory, which he soon discovers is the mid-sixties. Desperate to be re-united with his family, he sets out on a long journey hitting many obstacles along the way; from an angry group of bikers to his present day gangster friend, who was apparently less than interested in being buddies in his younger years. But that's not the biggest threat to him; if he's not careful, he could prevent his future's domestic bliss from ever occurring.

Skyline Trailer

What if extraterrestrials threatened our very existence? Many people think it's just a matter of time before earth finds itself home to other worldly life. When strange lights appear in the skyline, the people of Los Angeles couldn't help but be drawn to the bright blue streams of light, what followed was something that no one expected or had any warning of.

Joe Dirt Review

Bad
As scary as it sounds, I was actually looking forward to seeing the new David Spade comedy, Joe Dirt. My entire childhood and much of my adolescence was spent in such podunk California towns such as Exeter, Georgetown, Placerville, Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno, Garden Valley, Kelsey, and Cool. Such places where ripped Dokken t-shirts were worn with pride, jeans were bathed in an acid wash, and hair cuts were sported by the mullet kings of Cali. I grew up in fear of Wrangler jeans, Bob Seger t-shirts, and Chevy Camaros.

Joe Dirt was meant to be redemption for my miserable years at the hands of these greasy, ignorant tormentors. But then 30 minutes went by and the movie took a sharp left into saps-ville, crashing and burning like a 74 'Cuda wrapped around an oak tree. Oh well.

White Chicks Review

Terrible
No one does sick bathroom slapstick better than the Wayans brothers - their work on Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 proves that. They curiously didn't return for the third movie in that franchise. Maybe they realized (or someone did for them) that their brand of humor had run its useful course and it was time to move on. White Chicks is the product of their departure. Unfortunately, it's far from original, or entertaining - in fact, it takes the Wayans' brand of gross-out humor to a whole new low.

Two FBI agents, Marcus (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin Copeland (Shawn Wayans) have a knack for screwing up their assignments. Their supervisor (Frankie Faison) is pissed, and the pair have become the joke of the department. After blowing their cover on their last assignment, Marcus and Kevin are given "one final" opportunity to prove themselves. They're assigned to escort high profile, cruise ship heiresses Brittany and Tiffany Wilson (think Paris and Nicky Hilton) to a party in the Hamptons without getting kidnapped. I guess shipboard credits and shore excursions are hot commodities for East Coast socialites.

Club Dread Review

Terrible
Club Dreadful is more like it. Have you ever watched a horror movie where you're begging for the deranged serial killer to make quick work of his or her aggravating victims? Club Dread is that type of film. This heinous horror spoof springs from the minds of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, a team so terrible they wouldn't know funny if a monkey infested with a hilarity virus nicknamed "Sharp Wit" bit them on the leg.

The Lizards made a name for themselves at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival with law enforcement spoof Super Troopers. That film cultivated a rabid cult audience who devoured the film at midnight screenings. Perhaps they were sleep deprived. Their follow-up follows a gaggle of young, hard-bodied partygoers to Pleasure Island, where a little fun in the sun turns deadly after a stalker starts killing the employees of beautiful Club Dread.

Joe Dirt Review

Zero

"Joe Dirt" was obviously written by people who owe their careers to sketch comedy. This David Spade vehicle about an inbred, mullet-haired, 98-pound nitwit has no structure to speak of other than the main character narrating four-minute vignettes about meeting road movie oddballs and fantasy sexpots while crisscrossing the country on a quest to find the white-trash parents that abandoned him as a child.

Tying these episodes together is a pathetically contrived set piece in which this grating dullard tells his life story to a drive-time DJ (Dennis Miller, propped up and caffeinated) -- over the course of three days of broadcasts. Talk about your lame plot devices. How did Joe get on the air? He's a janitor at the radio station and the show's producer thought he'd be the perfect sitting duck for Miller's on-air degradation.

After exhausting every shopworn hayseed cliché in the first 10 minutes (shirtless hick driving a primer-painted junk yard muscle car, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd), without garnering as much as a slight smile, director Dennie Gordon (apparently one of Adam Sandler's many talentless bootlicks) pretty much just points the camera at Spade and lets him ad lib, with arduously flavorless results.

White Chicks Review

Unbearable

Marlon and Shawn Wayans of "Scary Movie" fame underwent hours of makeup each day to play the title characters in the gimmick comedy "White Chicks," but little good it did them. Their layers-of-latex Caucasian drag isn't any more realistic than the rubber mask worn by Michael Myers in the "Halloween" movies -- only tighter, as if their faces had been shrink-wrapped.

The two star as idiot FBI-agent brothers who keep trying to make busts without backup and botching the cases badly. Assigned to babysit two dingbat blonde heiresses -- half-hearted "Omigod!" spoofs of Paris and Nicky Hilton -- because of a kidnapping threat, Marlon and Shawn manage to screw that up too, by going undercover as the girls instead.

Giggling in Valley-gal falsettos and wobbling around the Hamptons in high heels and tight, tacky pink outfits (where, of course, everyone inexplicably mistakes them for the real heiresses), they furiously mug through every off-the-shelf cross-dressing gag known to Hollywood and supposedly "really learning something" about women in the process.
