Britney's sister has finally negotiated her way around the stumbling blocks and released her debut single 'How Could I Want More'
Jamie Lynn Spears may finally be ready to follow in her famous sister's footsteps and embark on her own singing career after releasing her first single this week. Britney Spears' sister will be hoping to conquer the music charts with her first-ever single, much like her big sis did back in the late 90's, with 'How Could I Want More.'
The teen mother has had more pressing matters to attend to other than her pop career
The 22-year-old released 'How Could I Want More' on Monday, 25 November, and already the track is working its way up the iTunes chart in the US, breaking into the top five last night. The immediate success of the country single can perhaps be owed to Jamie herself, who released the song a day early after teasing the date 26 November on her Twitter for the past few days.
"Surprise!!!!!! On itunes now!!!! Go get it- Right Now!!!!! This song means a lot to me... Hope it does to ya'll (sic) as well!! Love y'all!!" the singer told her fans at the beginning of the week via Twitter.
The release of her debut single marks the end of a five year journey for Jamie, who first began recording songs for her debut country album in 2009. Having given birth to daughter Maddie Alridge a year earlier, effectively putting her then-budding acting career on hold, her break-up with Casey Aldridge put a halt to her singing plans as she prepared for life as a single mother. Continuing to work on her music in her own free time, in 2011 Jamie showcased a few of her tracks during a performance in Nashville, Tennessee and after this long wait, we finally have a Jamie Lynn Spears single, with an album potentially on its way.
No details on a possible full-length release from Jamie have been announced yet, however response to the single has so far been mostly positive, which may prompt the release of an album. With five-years worth of material to chose from, we're hoping that we do see a album from the younger Spears sister, but if not, we always have 'How Could I Want More.'
