P DIDDY prepared for his upcoming New York Marathon bid by jumping on a treadmill and running for the duration of yesterday's (22OCT03) MTV show TOTAL REQUEST LIVE.

The rap mogul hopped on the running machine and covered over five miles during the hour-long show - not even stopping when Britney Spears turned up for a chat and mopped his sweaty brow.

Sporting a new mohawk haircut, Diddy, who was joined on the show by his butler Farnsworth Bentley and trainer MARC JENKINS, admitted he often worries he won't be able to complete the 26-mile run.

He confessed, "It's going to be my first time experiencing it. It's going to be extremely extreme, but I'm in the best shape I've ever been in in all my life."

And trainer Jenkins revealed he's not sure his client is in tip-top shape: "His knee has been hurting him, he's working with an injury."

The rap star-turned-designer's efforts to get fit will be documented in his directorial debut, DIDDY RUNS THE CITY, which will hit MTV screens in America on 30 October (03) - days before the 2 November race.
