Britney Spears looks to be closing in on a deal to judge on US 'x factor'.

The 30-year-old singer is reportedly in the ''final stretch'' of talks with Simon Cowell about becoming a panellist on the programme alongside the music mogul and music executive L.A. Reid.

According to, Britney could be in line to receive ''closer to $15 million'' for the position.

The 'Toxic' hitmaker has previously said to have turned down a $10 million offer to take up a role on US 'X Factor', but a $15 million deal would see her earn more than the $12 million Jennifer Lopez reportedly makes for being a panellist on 'American Idol'.

Simon - who is searching for a replacement for axed judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul - has previously praised Britney and admitted the US 'X Factor' would be a ''walk in the park'' for her.

He said: ''I'm fascinated by her. The fact that she's one of the most talked about - not just pop stars - but people in the world today, means that you've got this star power.

''This girl has got resilience. I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, ['X Factor' would be] a walk in the park.''
