Britney Spears will become the highest-paid judge in reality television once she signs her $15 million deal with The X Factor Usa. Industry website TheWrap suggest Britney has been offered a contract that will see her earning $3 million more than American Idol's Jennifer Lopez and $5 million more than The Voice's Christina Aguilera.
Earlier reports suggest that Spears had originally been offered $10 million to join Simon Cowell on the show, but that she demanded $20 million. Both parties appear to have compromised with a deal made up of $13 million plus $2 million for a bonus performance on the show. Cowell has made no secret of his desire to land Britney, saying in February, "If she [Britney Spears] was available I'd take her in a heartbeat. She's one of the most talked-about people in the world today". Cowell is reportedly looking to pull out all the stops in order to make the superstar singer his first new judge, following the departure of Paula Abdul and Nicolel Scherzinger.
The music mogul has suggested his preference would be a male and a female judge to replace the two out-going stars, though it is unclear who he hopes to lure to the final seat on the panel.
