Britney Spears is said to be "close to a deal" to join the judging panel of the U.S version of X Factor. Deadline.com reported yesterday (April 10, 2012) that the 'Toxic' singer is likely to join the show for its second season in the US, following the shock departure of Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul from last season's line-up. The new line-up has been the subject of much media speculation of late, with Janet Jackson's name also doing the rounds on the rumor mill. Simon Cowell even admitted that they were considering asking Whitney Houston, before her tragic death earlier this year.
The article from Deadline suggests that Britney is nearing the end of negotiations. The original $10 million that she was offered for taking part on the show is now thought to be closer to $15 million. This would mean that she would be earning more than Jennifer Lopez did for last season's American Idol. The Fox network, along with Simon Cowell have apparently been concentrating their efforts on securing the deal with Britney, before they look at filling the other judging role.
