Britney Spears has become the most followed person on Google Plus.

The 'Hold It Against Me' hitmaker has knocked Google's CEO Larry Page off the top spot of the social media site after reaching more than 743,000 followers, with the company boss languishing slightly behind with just less than 742,500.

As well as the blonde beauty, famous names such as Snoop Dogg - who has more than 638,000 followers - and socialite Paris Hilton are also signed up to the identity service website, which launched in July.

Britney is the fifth most followed user on rival social networking site twitter with over 11.3 million followers, behind Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian.

Barack Obama, Rihanna, Shakira, Ashton Kutcher and Taylor Swift also make up the top 10.

Gaga - who follows in excess of 140,000 people and has tweeted more than 1,300 times - tops the list with over 16.3 million followers.
