Britney Spears' new album IN THE ZONE has bounced back from an awful sales week in Britain to top the American album charts, selling a staggering 609,000 copies in its first week of release.
The pop superstar's fourth LP only stumbled into the top 20 in Britain - but back home in America it's a totally different story.
Britney's album shifted almost twice as many as second-placed G-Unit's BEG FOR MERCY and BLINK-182's eponymous new album, which debuted at number three.
The big surprise was the BEATLES' LET IT BE... Naked release, which opened with sales of 280,000, to enter the charts in fifth place - many music experts expected the remixed album to shoot straight to the top.
While it's an impressive first week for Britney, her fourth album's first week sales falls short of the 746,000 copies her 2001 release BRITNEY managed when it debuted at number one.26/11/2003 21:18
