Organisers of next month's (FEB05) Brit Awards have increased the number of artists nominated for the Best British Single category from five to ten, after they miscalculated the number of weeks in 2004.

Brit Awards bosses have now added singles by The Streets, NATASHA BEDINGFIELD, Keane, George Michael and Sugababes to the list of nominees to avoid any potential upset.

A spokesman says, "It has been brought to our attention that the 2004 chart year comprised 53 weeks rather than 52.

"To avoid any ambiguity, and in the interest of accuracy and fair play, the Brits committee has decided to expand the nominations list to ten."

The ceremony takes place on 9 February (05) at London's Earl's Court.
