David Bowie Wins Big, But Grime Artists Go Home Empty-Handed At The 2017 BRIT Awards

Brit Awards David Bowie

The late David Bowie was the big winner at last night’s Brit Awards, winning two of the biggest categories in Best British Male artist and Best British Album for his final record, Blackstar.

The iconic and influential singer died on January 10th last year, and while the BRITs paid tribute to him at the 2016 ceremony, it was the 2017 edition in which Bowie was posthumously nominated for his final works.

“He's always been there supporting people who think they're a little bit weird or a little bit strange. He's ways been there for them. This award is for all the kooks and all the people who make the kooks,” said Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, collecting the best album prize.

Michael Buble To Host The 2017 Brit Awards

Michael Buble Brit Awards

Michael Buble has confirmed that he’ll be the next host of the Brit Awards, replacing previous hosts Ant & Dec starting with the 2017 awards.

Although born in Canada and now a naturalised Italian citizen as of 2005, Buble has often credited the United Kingdom with breaking his career in the first place, and described the opportunity to host the annual Brit Awards ceremony – the industry’s most prestigious in the UK – as a “great honour”.

“I belong to the UK. They made me,” the 41 year old singer said to BBC News in a statement. “So to be honoured by being asked to do something like the Brits, it's a privilege, it really is.”

Adele dominated at this year’s Brit Awards, taking home four of the biggest awards of the night in addition to her show-stopping performance of new single ‘When We Were Young’ at the end of the evening.

The 27 year old Tottenham-born singer was named best British Female Solo Artist at the start of the ceremony, and her night only got better from that point onwards, as she also netted the Global Success Award, best British Single for ‘Hello’ and the evening’s most prestigious prize, best British Album for 25.

Adele’s acceptance speeches were among the viral moments of the evening, as she became increasingly lost for words as the evening went on. “To come back after so long away and be so warmly received means so much,” she said, “I got really lost for a while and I didn't know if I'd ever come back. For you all to be so kind to me is so nice.”

Justin Bieber Says Fans Shouldn't Idolise Him, Because He'll Only "Disappoint" Them

Justin Bieber Brit Awards

Less than a day ahead of the Brit Awards and his scheduled performance, expected to be one of the most lavish in the ceremony’s history, Justin Bieber has given a new interview condemning the nature of stardom, claiming that fans shouldn’t idolise any pop singers, even himself.

“I would really suggest to people, ‘Don’t put your faith in me’. Because I’m gonna disappoint you every time,” he told British newspaper The Mirror on Wednesday (February 24th). “Yeah. It’s scary. But I want them to know that I’m not going to be able to solve their problems… I’m not that higher power.”

Ricky Wilson Kaiser Chiefs Brit Awards

It's not been a good week for Ricky Wilson. The Kaiser Chief frontman was ejected from the Brits on Wednesday (25th February) and was accidently punched in the face whilst filming The Voice, the episode of which aired on Saturday (18th February). 37-year-old Wilson attended the Brit Awards on Wednesday and a source, speaking to The Mirror, claim his night ended in a less glamorous fashion than the majority of his counterparts. Wilson was allegedly rowing with a female companion outside the O2 Arena in London and, when he attempted to re-enter the arena, was refused entry by security.

Clean Bandit Dismiss Kasabian Insults As "Jealousy"

Clean Bandit Kasabian Serge Pizzorno Brit Awards

British chart stars Clean Bandit have responded to comments made by rockers Kasabian in which they cast aspersions on their songwriting credibility.

Serge Pizzorno, guitarist and chief songwriter of the Leicester quartet, told The Independent last week that he was displeased at the group’s total lack of recognition at the upcoming Brit Awards. Despite scoring a fourth UK Number 1 album last year with 48:13, Kasabian received no nominations at all, which Pizzorno described as a “conspiracy” to “shut rock ‘n’ roll out.”
