French Actress Brigitte Bardot And Her Husband Have Threatened A Painter With Legal Action For Selling Products Using Her Image.
The veteran star discovered a shop in Saint Tropez in France was selling a range of items, including watches, candles and towels, featuring her likeness without her permission, and she is planning to file a legal complaint against the owner for "exploiting her image".
Her husband Bernard d'Ormale tells local newspaper Nice Matin that he warned the owner: "You are selling products representing BB without authorisation. Brigitte is not happy. The only right she possesses is the right to her image. Next week, we'll be sending in the bailiffs."
However, the owner, a painter named Sasha, appears to be steeling himself to fight the battle, responding, "I've been doing paintings with Brigitte in them for 15 years, with my own style and in my own way. These are my own works. I wouldn't use official photos, for example."
