Rocker Brian May is celebrating after winning his battle to defend the rights of British badgers.
Politicians have voted emphatically to abandon a planned badger cull, calling on government agriculture officials to introduce a vaccination programme instead.
Queen star May, who was present for the decision after months of campaigning to keep badgers alive, took to Twitter.com to celebrate, writing, "We won! Thanks to you. Onwards!"
He later added, "I can hardly believe we have come this far. Huge thanks to all of you who tweeted, signed petition and wrote to Mps. It all made a difference."
May's petition, which was signed by 160,000 animal lovers, secured the political debate.
The guitar great later posted a photo of himself toasting his victory outside the Houses of Parliament on the banks of the River Thames.
