Animal-loving rocker Brian May helped carry lions at a nature reserve as he shot scenes for a documentary in South Africa.
The Queen star jetted to Cape Town to film the educational show on behalf of the Born Free Foundation, and he couldn't wait to get hands-on with the kings of the jungle during a trip to the Shamwari Game Reserve on the Eastern Cape.
He helped move two of the enormous beasts to a new enclosure and has told of the "privilege" of being able to get up close to the fearsome big cats.
May tells Hello! magazine, "They had been placed in separate enclosures for tranquillising, but as soon as they were darted and started getting woozy, they went over to each other and were kissing through the mesh. It was very touching to watch, almost as if they were reassuring each other.
"While they were asleep it was a chance to be very close to both lions, which is very unusual and a great privilege. It was the first time I had ever been in that situation and it was just amazing."
