Being one of Hollywood's biggest stars is not nearly as much fun as being a parent, according to Brad Pitt.
The Ocean's 13 star has been speaking out in favour of being a dad at the Venice film festival, where he is promoting his latest movie.
Pitt has three adopted children with partner Angelina Jolie as well as the pair's biological baby, Shiloh, who was born last year.
He said they were his "main focus" and that being a parent was "the most fun I have ever had", but was at pains to make it clear that the reward does not come without its sacrifices.
"I love it and I can't recommend it any more highly. It is also the biggest pain in the a**** I have ever experienced... Sleep is non-existent," he said.
The Oscar-nominated actor is hoping The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, his new film, trumps rivals Atonement and In The Valley of Elah for the festival's Golden Lion prize for best film.
He stars as James in the picture, which portrays the last year of the wild west legend's life and features Ben Affleck's brother Casey as Ford.
