Brad Pitt took extensive research into the toils of war in preparation for 'Fury'.
Now storming through cinemas worldwide after claiming the US box office crown last weekend, the World War II tank-crew thriller 'Fury' is an old-school war movie that attempts to update the genre with a more internalised approach to its characters.
Brad Pitt has deep respect for the war veterans who inspired 'Fury'
"It's about a family and their love for each other," says writer-director David Ayer of the five-man crew played by Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and Jon Bernthal. "We wanted to explore the moral and psychological hazards of war, and how they affect this family of brothers."

From Training Day to this year's Sabotage, filmmaker David Ayer writes and directs movies about the cathartic power of releasing your inner warrior. And this World War II action thriller is more of the same, with a "war is hell" message stirred in for good measure. The problem is that there's nothing particularly new here. It's a beautifully shot and edited film, with terrific performances and a remarkable sense of scale, but there have been so many movies made about this conflict that it's difficult to find something original to connect with.
It's near the end of the war, April 1945, as Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) leads the crew of a tank named Fury: Bible (Shia LaBeouf) is a true believer, Gordo (Michael Pena) is a relaxed joker, and Coon-Ass (Jon Bernthal) is a hot-headed thug. Having just lost their driver, they're joined by rookie Norman (Logan Lerman), who doesn't yet have a wartime nickname because he never thought he'd end up driving a tank. Together, they head further into Germany, not as liberators but as invaders and occupiers, working with other tank crews to take a strategic town before heading further into the hot zone, where a series of particularly brutal Nazi assaults ensue.
The point of the film seems to be that war erodes a person's humanity over time, and the sharpest aspect is the way each character emerges at some point on the continuum. Obviously, Norman is the naive newbie who still has a strong conscience, while at the other extreme Coon-Ass is virtually a monster. Wardaddy is somewhere in between, a tough guy who still has a sense of perspective, such as when he reasons that Norman should be allowed to have some private time with a young German girl (Alicia von Rittberg) simply because they're "young and alive". All of the actors are excellent, adding telling details to their characters that deepen every scene. And the camaraderie between the five-man crew is remarkably authentic, as is their ease inside the cramped quarters of the tank, which makes submarine movies look spacious by comparison.

Brad Pitt was joined by his 'Fury' co-stars at a Paris photocall held at Les Invalides. He posed on the red carpet in front of an army tank with actors Logan Lerman, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Bernthal and Michael Pena, as well as director David Ayer. During the photo session, Shia and Jon appeared to share a little playful banter, with Shia exclaiming, 'What's the deal, man?!' as they are joined by General Christian Baptiste and General Herve Charpentie.
In a recent interview over the recently released 'Fury', Brad Pitt discussed how the film focuses on the psychological aspects of war.
With the recent news that 'Fury' has topped the box-office over the course of it's opening weekend, Brad Pitt - the film's star - talks about what went into the creation of this hit film. In an interview with the BBC, Pitt explains how the film was never intended to act as a glorification of war. "War is hell," he says, while discussing the film's dramatic impact. In his own words, the film "was about the accumulative psychic trauma that every soldier carries to some extent."
Brad Pitt stars as Sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier, alongside Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña and Jon Bernthal. 'Fury' follows the story of these five men who work together within the titular Sherman tank, throughout the final days of World War Two. According to 'Walking Dead' star, Jon Bernthal, "This movie is family drama. It's about a family travelling through hell in a metal box."

And the winner is... well, you already know, don't you?
Ok, it’s time to talk box office stats again. Unlike the past 2 weeks, however, there are actually some interesting new contenders this week. David Fincher’s smash hit Gone Girl has finally been dethroned. Predictably, the new chamion is the Brad Pitt starrer Fury, which took the throne with $23,5 million over the three-day period, easily topping Gone Girl’s $17,8 million (stats according to Box Office Mojo). Fury, a dramatic and gory WWII tale, exposing the horrors of war, also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña and Scott Eastwood. Even so, Pitt who produced and starred, took center stage during the film’s promo rounds.
"Studios use star power as the No. 1 marketing tool, and Brad Pitt has that," says Phil Contrino, box office analyst for BoxOffice.com. "But it's not star power alone which gets people to the theaters. Brad Pitt picks smart pictures that people want to see."

The veteran actor made the shocking revelation while promoting his new war drama 'Fury.'
Over his illustrious movie career, Brad Pitt has shown why he is one of Hollywood's most talented stars by playing a variety of characters from good guys to bad, but whenever it came to portraying someone with a firearm, not a lot of acting was required.
Pitt has been a gun owner nearly all his life
Pitt, who is thought of as one of the most liberal A-Listers, recently made a rather shocking revelation when promoting his new war drama 'Fury' with the U.K.'s Radio Times, he admitted to inheriting and owning a gun while in kindergarten.

The actress was recognised for her work towards ending sexual violence in war zones.
Some might have already called Angelina Jolie Hollywood royalty, but now the actress has officially been made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II, during a visit to Buckingham Palace. As Jolie is an American the title, which is the female equivalent of a knighthood, is honorary meaning she cannot be addressed as Dame Angelina Jolie. Still, if Jolie wants she can refer to herself as the rather longwinded Angelina Jolie DCMG.

Dressed in a demure tailored lilac skirt and matching jacket, Jolie was presented to Queen Elizabeth in room 1844 at Buckingham Palace. The actress brought along new husband Brad Pitt for the occasion, as well as the couple’s six children, who all got to meet the monarch.
The 50 year-old actor talks about his future, speaks highly of his experience working with LeBeouf and recalls why he got "pissed off" with his rookie 'Fury' co-star.
Only one months has passed since Brad Pitt tied the knot for a second time to his longtime partner, and mother to their six children, Angelina Jolie, and he already can feel how marriage has strengthened their relationship.
Pitt feels "there's more" to marriage than just a title
While covering British GQ's November 2014 issue, the 50 year-old actor briefly expressed what saying "I Do" represented. "I wouldn't say (marriage is) just a title, there's more to it than that," he said.
During April, 1945, the final month of World War Two, the Allied Forces are making their final push into German territory. With the recent death of one of the crew of the tank, 'Fury', Norman (Logan Lerman) is inducted into the crew. The other members, 'Wardaddy' (Brad Pitt), 'Bible' (Shia LaBeouf), 'Gordo' (Michael Pena) and 'Coon-Ass' (Jon Bernthal) have been together for the entirety off the war so far, and desperately hope that the new recruit is ready to do his job. The film is brought to us by writer/director David Ayer ('Harsh Times' and 'End of Watch') and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

The most recent news on the Jolie-Pitt clan - Angelina may be retiring after a couple of projects.
Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their six children might be the biggest family in cinema – in more ways than one – so we kind of love it when they all do things together. Well, soon (relatively) you will be able to see all of them in Cleopatra, where Jolie has the title role, but Brad Pitt will co-star and all six of their kids - Madox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Vivienne and Knox – will also have minor roles in the project, according to IBN.
Jolie and PItt's youngest daughter, Vivienne, was also featured in Jolie's most recent flick, Maleficent.
Jolie was just recently announced as the star herself and has indicated that she intends for the film to be a highlight of her career – if not her last role.
Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt are teaming up for a new drama.
Angelina Jolie will direct her partner Brad Pitt in 'By the Sea', a new drama written by the actress for Universal Pictures. The pair will also co-produce the movie, which was announced on Friday (July 18, 2014) by studio chairman Donna Langley.
Jolie and Pitt last worked together in the 2005 action flick Mr & Mrs Smith, where they are thought to have begun their relationship.

Brad Pitt is in Essex filming the sequel to 'World War Z' and he's been spotted enjoying the local pub and a fast food joint.
There are times when everyone, no matter how rich, famous or beautiful they are, needs a burger. Whether you've had a little too much to drink, are in the middle of a long motorway journey or have spent the day being chased round zombies sometimes it's time for Wimpy. Actor Brad Pitt certainly seems to have had that reaction on Tuesday (8th July) when he was spotted in Essex ordering fast food with his bodyguards.
Brad Pitt is reportedly a fan of the Wimpy donut.
Let's get real here.
Hey girl, did you know that Ryan Gosling is about to be a dad? Neither did anyone else until this week, but when he and girlfriend Eva Mendes broke the news, the internet exploded with highly inappropriate amounts of “grief.” Well, it was mostly just Twitter. Well, mostly just overdramatic Gosling and Notebook fans. But in honor of these poor lovestruck souls (you can read some choice tweets below) we’ve compiled a list of five other people you are never going to date – no matter how much you’d like to.
Gosling and Mendes got together in 2011, so he's technically been off the market for some time now.
Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. When asked to choose between this power couple, most people would be fine with either. Jolie is intelligent, charitable, worldly and stunning. Brad Pitt, even after his hey-day is… how do we put this delicately… hot, not to mention a creative and business-savvy force to be reckoned with. Fortunately for them, they seem to have found a good thing – lasting marriage, a whole litter of children and thriving careers to boot. Unfortunately for us, this means that both are off the market for good. The same largely applies to Beyonce and Jay Z, by the way.
Could Brad Pitt's 'Fury' go all the way?
The explosive first trailer for David Ayer's World War II movie Fury starring Brad Pitt has rolled out online. The movie follows army sergeant Wardaddy who heads up an American tank unit in Germany in 1945, as the end of the war closes in. He is joined by the rest of his unit, made up of Shia LaBeouf, Jason Isaacs, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal and Michael Pena.

Fury, written and directed by the man also responsible for the Oscar winning Training Day and acclaimed thriller End of Watch, has been described as a rich character study with action scenes.

Getting your very first bike represents a landmark for most children - a rite of passage into the world of the mobile. But what if you had an entire skate park in which to hone your skills? Now that would be something.
But it’s exactly what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to do for their 8-year-old daughter Shiloh. The duo, apparently, hired a team of builders to construct ramps, dips and metal grinds in the backyard of their mansion.

Brad Pitt has spoken out for the first time about the red carpet "attack" that left the Ukrainian TV presenter Vitalii Sediuk behind bars. The notorious prankster - who has played similar tricks on Bradley Cooper and Ammerica Ferrera - accosted Pitt at the world premiere of Maleficent in Hollywood last week.

The 50 year-old actor calls Vitalii Sediuk a "nutter" and says that "he's going to spoil it for the fans," if these antics don't stop.
Red Carpet Prankster Vitalii Sediuk's latest stunt earned him several criminal charges, as well as orders to attend a weekly session of psychiatric counselling over a 52-week period.
And Brad Pitt, the victim of the prank, couldn't agree more with the punishment.
The 50 year-old actor has finally spoke out on Sediuk jumping the barrier at the premiere of Disney's 'Maleficent' last week to hug him before being wrestled to the ground by security, in a hilarious statement to People Magazine.

Jolie could give up acting and refocus her attention after her upcoming Egyptian biopic.
Angelina Jolie has hinted that a retirement from acting could be on the horizon after she finishes her upcoming Cleopatra biopic. The Maleficent actress, who is currently promoting her dark fairytale retake, has already indicated that she'd like to step away from movies to concentrate on her humanitarian concerns.
"I've had a wonderful career and I'm very happy to have had all the opportunities to tell stories and work for as long as I have," she said last month at a Maleficent press conference. "I'm sure there will be more films but I am happy I am able to be selective and have fun with characters like this but I would like to focus on writing and directing and above all I would like to focus more on my work with the UN."

Well, there goes Vitalii Sediuk's pranking career.
Vitalii Sediuk, aka the Ukranian “prankster” who has made a career out of harassing celebrities, has had his day in court and – probably – his fifteen minutes. The “prankster” ran out on the red carpet at Wednesday’s Maleficent premiere and attempted to punch Brad Pitt, of all people. Earlier this month, he had attempted to dive under America Ferrera’s gown at Cannes. This is standard practice for Sediuk and has in fact led to his management dropping him.
To his credit, Brad Pitt recovered brilliantly from the incident.
As of Friday, however, he has even bigger worries. After he pleaded no contest to battery and unlawful activity charges, Sediuk was sentenced to three years of probation, one year of psychological counseling, ordered to stay 500 yards away from all celebrity events, and issued with a restraining order to keep away from Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Yes, that sounds about right.
They’ve been together nearly a decade but Angelina doesn't have any plans to walk down the aisle any time soon.
Angelina Jolie has been pretty busy as of late. Right now she’s promoting her new movie, Disney’s Maleficent, which is perhaps her biggest role in recent years. But Jolie is still one half of Hollywood’s most famous couple who after nearly a decade together, still don't plan to say ‘I do’ any time soon.

The actress, who has been engaged to Brad Pitt for two years told USA Today the couple “don't have any plans to get married at the moment.” Angelina added that nothing was organised and she doesn't have a dress for when the big day finally comes around.
Brad Pitt's attacker has been put on 36 months of summary probation and will have to attend a weekly session of psychiatric counselling over a 52-week period.
Ukrainian reporter Vitalii Sediuk, known for rushing stars on the red carpet at premieres, will not be able to prank his way out of this one.
After Sediuk's latest stunt, where he jumped the barrier at the premiere of Disney's 'Maleficent' and hugged Pitt before being wrestled to the ground be security, criminal charges have been issued.
Appearing in an East Los Angeles courthouse for a hearing on Wednesday night's (May 28th) incident, Sediuk was ordered by a judge to stay at least 500 yards away from all award shows, entertainment events and red carpets.
Steven Knight is charged with helping to emulate the first film's financial success
World War Z was just one of those success stories. Stranded in that middle ground between critical failure and acclaim, but well and truly prominent in box offices around the globe - it went on to collect $540m worldwide. Steven Knight, according to Variety, has been hired to write the most inevitable of sequels.
Knight’s writing credits include Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises and Jason Statham’s Hummingbird, which all bode well for an action zombie thriller. The sequel already has a director: Juan Antonio Bayona who was behind the camera for The Orphanage and The Impossible. Pitt may have had some sway in this as it comes weeks after it was announced that he was in early talks to star in an untitled World War II romantic thriller, also written by Knight.

So, is Brad Pitt about to sign a deal to star in 'True Detective' season 2 or not? Some reliable sources seem to think so...

Will Brad Pitt join the cast of True Detective?
It was unusual to see two such high profile actors taking time from their busy movie schedules to indulge in a little HBO series, but yikes did it pay off. Ahead of the release of her new movie, the actress got personal with Elle.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt might seem like the perfect couple now (or as close to perfect as any human couple can be anyway), but it wasn’t always so. Before the two found their little slice of heaven in each other and their brood of children, Jolie had all but given up on finding love, the Maleficent actress says in the June issue of Elle. In an interview to go with her stunning cover, Jolie andmits: "I never thought I'd have children, I never thought I'd be in love, I never thought I'd meet the right person."
Jolie is about to reinvent the original Disney villain, Maleficent.
Apparently she had a pretty good reason to believe that too.
The Jolie-Pitt family might be taking their cues from the Carters and working on a surprise project together.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie news are usually a Hollywood highlight, but when the pair are about to film a new movie together, it takes the buzz to a whole new level. The power couple have not collaborated on a film project since 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
After a few rough months, Jolie is diving back into work.
The Hollywood Reporter first announced the news, but at this point, there is little else to report. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, the project could be filmed from a script for a relationship drama, which Angelina Jolie wrote a few years ago. That project centered on a couple with issues who take a vacation in a last-ditch effort to save their marriage. There is no director attached to the project at this time and there is a possibility that Jolie might direct it herself. Jolie is in post right now Unbroken, the true World War II tale of Lou Zamperini that she directed for Universal. It is also not known who is producing. So far, that’s all the information to report on the upcoming project, but watch this space for future updates.

He criticises the shockingly bratty behaviour of fellow stars Shannen Doherty, Mischa Barton and Dean McDermott and reveals the rather gross competitions he and former roomie Brad Pitt used to make up for fun.

On his former 90210 co-star Doherty he recalls taking a private flight with her from L.A. to New York to meet with advertisers and remembers how the actress' diva-esque antics didn't leave the best impression.
Little is known of the project so far, but "The Operators" already has a director ad writer in David Michod.
Brad Pitt is keeping on with the theme of military films and, with the help of Animal Kingdom helmer David Michod, is tackling a fresh subject – the controversial Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the former commanding general of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan. McChrystal first became a household name in the US, when he was profiled for Rolling Stone back in 2010.
Pitt will produce via his Plan B label.
Michael Hastings’ profile easily sparked controversy, exposing the general and his staff's disdain for their superiors, including National Security Advisor James L. Jones, Vice President Biden and President Obama, and ultimately prompting McChrystal to resign.
The 50 year-old will also produce the upcoming film, which is based on journalist Michael Hastings' book 'The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan
Brad Pitt will star and produce in yet another war film.
The 50 year-old is scheduled to play Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who is a former commanding general of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
The upcoming film is called 'The Operators,' and Australian filmmaker David Michod will write and direct it, The Los Angeles Times reports.
Naya Rivera and Big Sean have called time on their engagement (and apparently he's telling time on her Rolex). These other once engaged celebs also never made it down the aisle.
The most shocking break up news of the week goes to Glee star Naya Rivera and now ex-fiancee Big Sean. The pair have called it quits amid rumours of infidelity and Rolex theft. Naya tweeted “@bigsean stealing rolexes from a lady’s house now. Maybe cuz I’m on Glee and making more money or something. #triflin.” Although the tweet was quickly removed, the plot is definitely thickening.
Naya Rivera and Big Sean have called time on their relationship
These others celebs also decided to end their very high profile engagements, although none of them accused each other of stealing expensive watches. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck AKA Bennifer were a bit of an odd couple to even begin with. In 2003 the couple were involved in an extremely high profile relationship, going so far as to co-star in a couple of god awful movies. The engagement was broken off in 2004, allegedly because Ben wasn’t ready to give up single life. Which makes sense because a year later he married Jennifer Garner. Burnnnnn.

Check out what the critics have been saying about Kevin Costner in 'Draft Day'
The people behind ‘Draft Day’ are probably getting a little bit tired of comparisons to 'Moneyball', the Brad Pitt-starring 2011 hit, but given that the reviews have just been filed, and it seems to be lacking where 'Moneyball' prospered – so to speak – now is the perfect time for comparisons. And it doesn’t look rosy for director Ivan Reitman.
Kevin Coster pulls some surprise punches in 'Draft Day'
The premise is simple: under the intense scrutiny of both a demanding owner and fickle fans, Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner) must make draft day decisions that will both shape his career and the future of The Cleveland Browns. All the while, hundreds of young men’s sports careers hang in the balance.
Scarlett Johansson finds her 'tacky' nickname 'insulting'. These other celebrities aren't so bothered about their portmanteau names.
These days it seems as though fame is cemented when the world refers to you by your very own portmanteau. Over the past few years it’s become a way of referring to our favourite celebs, because in the texting generation don’t nobody gots time to say their full names. Think J-Lo, K-Stew, J-Law, ScarJo, the list goes on. Except ScarJo wants her name taken off the list, because, well, she’s apparently above all that. Apparently starring in a Marvel movie franchise qualifies you as a serious actress, Meryl Streep style. Or MezStree as we like to call her. And she freaking loves it.
Scarlett Johansson thinks portmanteaus are 'tacky'
Scarlett Johansson, or ScarJo as we like to call her (and which is how she shall forever forth be referred) explained to Glamour magazine, “I associate that name with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky. It’s lazy and flippant…There’s something insulting about it.” Well, that's certainly very diplomatic and won't potentially insult anybody. Nice work, ScarJo! ScarJo ScarJo ScarJo.
Brad Pitt is to tell the story of Anonymous's Deric Lostutter.
Brad Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment has secured the rights to Anonymous vs Steubenville - a Rolling Stone article by David Kushner about the online vigilante Deric Lostutter's role in a landmark rape case. Pitt and the team behind 12 Years A Slave have been planning this movie for a while, though things are now official.
Brad Pitt Won An Oscar For '12 Years a Slave'
Hactivist Lostutter helped expose a town-wide cover-up of a teenage girl's rape by two high school football player, bringing charges to the rapists and helping get the high school superintendent, the principal and two high school coaches indicted for concealing the truth - all this while himself risking a 20-year sentence.

The producers of '12 Years A Slave' will adapt a Rolling Stone article about a hacker who exposed two rapists but was jailed for his methods.
Brad Pitt's production company has bought the rights to a movie which is based on a true story, much like their previous critically acclaimed film '12 Years A Slave'.
After their successful win for the historical drama at this year's Academy-Awards, Pitt and his partners, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, will produce the new project.
It is about a hacker who exposed two rapists, but was then jailed for the ways in which he caught the assailants.
Lorde has spoken out against photoshop, explaining "flaws are OK". These other celebrities agree and also opt for au naturel when it comes to their photo shoots.
One of the reasons that we love Lorde so much is that she defies the usual standards of celebrity. The 17 year old has previously posted photos of herself on her Instagram account with a caption explaining she is wearing acne cream in the pic.
'Royals' singer Lorde has spoken out against photoshopping
Recently the ‘Royals’ singer shared two photographs of herself from Lollapalooza music festival in Santiago, Chile. One photograph of her had been photoshopped to smooth over her skin, while the other was natural. Lorde commented on the photos, ‘i find this curious - two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real. remember flaws are ok :-)’.

The New Zealand singer warned against the fake perfection of Photoshop.
Today, Lorde has tried to prove to her fans that Photoshop perfection is not something to aspire to and that "flaws are ok" in selfies and photos. To illustrate her point, the singer posted two photos of herself performing at one concert on Twitter, one of which had been edited to perfection and the other showed off the young pop star's natural look.
Lorde Has Publically Spoken Out Against Her Photos Being Digitally Retouched.
"i find this curious - two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real. remember flaws are ok :-)" the 17 year-old singer captioned the shot. She received an outpouring of support and gratitude from her fans, many of which are also teenagers themselves, who praised her for her realistic attitude towards her own image.

Gwyneth Paltrow had high profile relationships long before she met Chris Martin.
We were all surprised when Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced their separation by way of a post on Paltrow’s Goop website on Tuesday evening. The couple, who have been married for 10 years and had two children together announced they were ‘consciously uncoupling’, and thus the showbiz world began mourning another high profile couple. But for Gwyneth a high profile split is nothing new, actually she’s had her fair share of famous romances.
Gwyneth Paltrow has announced her 'uncoupling' from Chris Martin
Before there was Chris and before there was Angelina, Hollywood’s hottest couple was Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow. Although now the two might seem like an unlikely pairing, back in the mid nighties they were the hot couple of the moment. These two set out to define the era for star couples, sporting matching cropped blonde hair and sometimes even matching outfits, (too far). They even got engaged! Although they might have seem like a young Hollywood dream come true, sadly it wasn't to be and they split in 1997 after three years of dating. Gwyneth would later take responsibility for the break up, telling Diana Sawyer ‘My kind of internal stuff really tripped up that whole relationship and I felt really responsible, and also like I was the architect of my own misery … I just made a big mess out of it.’.
Judging by recent history, Pitt still stands a chance.
Brad Pitt never expected to win an Oscar. He said as much during Sunday night’s Governor’s Ball. Speaking to E! News, Pitt said: “"I don't know where I'm going to put it. I never thought I'd take one home, so I haven't thought that far in advance.”
McQueen [l] and Pitt [r] shared the glory at Sunday night's ceremony.
The cast of 12 Years say the film couldn’t have been made as it is without Pitt’s reach and influence in the film industry. For his part, however, the producer is most grateful for McQueen’s director, as he said in his acceptance speech. "Thank you all," Pitt said in his acceptance speech.
The Ellen DeGeneres Oscars Selfie: did Jennifer Lawrence have the best pose or was it Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt...or Kevin Spacey?
Pretty much everyone has seen the Ellen Degeneres Oscars selfie by now; the celeb-packed pic that sent the Twittersphere into melt-down and quickly became the most retweeted image of all time. The Oscars host somehow gathered the cream of the awards' red carpet for last night's impromptu snap, which has become the evening's most shared and talked about image.
Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie Has Become The Most-Shared Image On Twitter.
The glory of the Oscars selfie lies in the pure and unabashed joy seen on every one of its twelve featured Hollywood stars' faces. Gone are the pouts, poses and glowers of the red carpet pap-snap and instead we have a bunch of gorgeous and joyous actors ready to party at the year's biggest movie awards.
No awards? No matter! Brangelina was centre of attention at the Oscars.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once again made sure all eyes were on them at last night's Academy Awards as they led the Hollywood royalty down the red carpet whilst looking very much the loved-up pair. The acting duo were virtually inseparable when posing for photos on the red carpet, making sure they were always touching and flashing dazzling smiles.
Brad Pitt & Angelina Echoed The BAFTAs In Their Oscars Union.
After last month's BAFTAs in London where the couple appeared in a matching tuxedo ensemble, Angelina decided to opt for a more feminine look at the Oscars and picked out a sparkling metallic and sheer gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture with diamond earrings and smoky eyes. Brad, as usual, played it safe with another classic and well-cut tuxedo and bowtie.
Brad Pitt, who produced 12 Years A Slave', comments on the process of making the film: "It was special to me, very special."
'12 Years A Slave' is the favorite to win Best Picture at tonight's 86th Academy-Awards, and its raw depiction of an African American's journey from being a freeman who was kidnapped and forced into slavery, has a lasting effect on the audience.
Due to the fact that it is based on a true story, the memoirs of Solomon Northup, is a harrowing reminder of America's dark history, but this also made the filmmakers feel a strong sense of responsibility to create the best film they could.

He may be Oscar-nominated but Matthew McConaughey wasn't first on the list.
Matthew Mcconaughey may have pulled off the performance of his career in Dallas Buyers Club but the actor apparently had to convince the movie's directors that he was the right guy to take on the role of entrepreneurial AIDS victim Ron Woodroof.
Matthew McConaughey Was Far From First Choice To Play Ron Woodroof.
Looking at the series of cheesy rom-coms that McConaughey has padded out his career with, it's fairly easy to see why director Jean-Marc Vallee was at first sceptical about casting the classically handsome, all-American beefcake actor. "I wasn't sure about Matthew at first," said Vallee to THR. "Mr. The Most Handsome Man With Muscles? Then I met him and found a man who really wanted to change perceptions and have new challenges in his career."
Who wears the trousers in Brangelina? They both do, obviously.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have gone home without any individual BAFTAs at last night's British Academy Film Awards but the Hollywood power couple have been two of the most talked-about attendees since the glittering ceremony. The actors turned up at the event in the matching attire of tuxedos and black ties and Angelina served as her fiance's touch-up stylist, tweaking his bowtie on the red carpet.
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Rocked Up In Matching Suits At The BAFTAs.
Whilst Brad kept his look polished and smart, Angelina opted to dress her look down with an open-necked shirt, loose silk tie and tousled hair. The Tomb Raider actress' choice to ditch a party frock in favour of a Saint Laurent blazer turned heads at the awards and made her the ceremony's style icon.
George Clooney has shed some light on a long-term prank he's been playing on Hollywood's elite, in the form of posing as Brad Pitt in letters.
George Clooney has revealed his obsession for sending cards and letters supposedly from his celebrity pals, all began in 2010 at John Krasinski's wedding. The reveal came in light of Matt Damon's discovery that the 'Ocean's Eleven' actor had been posting stationary with his name on to various people in and around Hollywood, yet apparently, Brad Pitt was the first person to fall victim to the practical joke.
While on Jimmy Kimmel's television show on Thursday, 6th February, the prankster - Clooney - revealed that Kimmel had been part of his first prank when they met at a mutual friend's wedding in Clooney's Italy villa. "You sent me a thank you gift card" said Clooney, "it actually said Brad Pitt on it, which set the wheels in motion... I've been sending letters to people as Brad Pitt for four years. Don Cheadle was trying to do the Miles Davis story and I sent him a letter from Brad, because Brad produces films, and I said, 'You know, I'm producing this Miles Davis/Charlie Parker thing and Jamie Foxx is gonna play Miles Davis, but you'd be great as Charlie Parker?'"

The '12 Years A Slave' actress was magnetic at this year's PGAs: we hail a bright new star.
As far as careers in acting go, Lupita Nyong'o has had one of the most impressive yet equally short stints in the spotlight. Barely out of her twenties, the actress has excelled in her first movie role in Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave. Nyong'o is picking up awards and new nominations for her supporting role alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender at an alarming rate with the golden prize - an Oscar - comfortably within her reach.
Lupita Nyong'o Explodes Into Hollywood With Critically Acclaimed Performance.
The weekend's Producers Guild Awards was forced to announce a tie between 12 Years and another of 2013's biggest movies, Gravity, which meant that the films had to share Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. Whilst the award propels the best film Oscar closer into Gravity's grasp, it also signals a seemingly unbreakable chain of wins for the slavery drama.
Gravity and 12 Years a Slave tied at the PGA Awards 2014.
The PGA Awards 2014 welcomed an array of producers and actors to the red-carpet last night (19th January 2014). According to BBC News, the guild saw a first in both 12 Years A Slave and Gravity being awarded the Daryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, forcing a never before seen tie at the awards ceremony.
George Clooney in Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity'
The 6,000 member guild attended the 25th Annual ceremony aware that there was razor-thin competition for some truly exceptional films of 2013/2014. Steve McQueen and Brad Pitt's 12 Years A Slave as well as David Heyman and Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity were acclaimed in a field of highly recognised motion pictures such as David O. Russell's American Hustle, Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine and Martin Scorsese's The Wolf Of Wall Street.

If you haven't seen Fight Club, don't read this article, as there are major spoilers for the film
If you know Fight Club, and you really should, then you’ll know that Tyler Durden is just a figure of Edward Norton’s imagination, created to escape the mundane domesticity of his life, even though his life takes place in a cyber-punk* dystopian city.

Much more than a film about 19th century slavery in America, this sharply well-told true story has a lot to say about the world we live in today. And as he did in Hunger and Shame, filmmaker Steve McQueen puts us right into the middle of the story so we live it ourselves. Watching this film is a riveting, unnerving and ultimately moving experience.
It's based on a firsthand account by Solomon Northrup (Ejiofor), a musician who is living with his family in 1841 Saratoga, New York, when two friendly men offer him a great gig. But they drug him and sell him to slave traders, who send him to New Orleans and strip him of his identity. He spends the next 12 years working for two masters. Ford (Cumberbatch) is a fair man who puts him under the watchful eye of the cruel Tibeats (Dano). Then he is sold to Epps (Fassbender), a harsh boss who sends him into cotton fields and angrily suspects that Solomon is more educated than he admits.
Made with an earthy, realistic style, there's a clear sense that McQueen and screenwriter Ridley stuck closely to the details of Northrup's memoir, which was published shortly after his release and became a bestseller at the time. By never indulging in Hollywood-style exaggeration, the events remain grounded in the characters, drawing on the spiky interaction between them. At the centre, Ejiofor is utterly magnetic, delivering a transparent performance that takes our breath away. In his terrified eyes, we experience this horror ourselves.

Director Steve McQueen joins the stars of '12 Years A Slave' to praise the immense level of acting skill that went into creating the movie. Among those actors were main star Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Michael Fassbender and Lupita Nyong'o.

The '12 Years A Slave' director was heckled by a critic who should have known better.
Steve McQueen was the subject of some pretty ugly heckling at last night; New York Film Critics Circle Awards where a critic shouted insults at the director. As a critic, whether you like someone's work or not should be confined to your review but one man decided to step out of line and make things personal.
Steve McQueen Was The Victim Of Some Petty Heckling At An Awards Show Last Night.
However, Armond White, a New York critic, hated McQueen's latest movie, 12 Years A Slave, so much that he couldn't resist spewing a little hatred as the director took to the stage to collect his 'Best Director' award. "You're an embarrassing doorman and garbage man. F*** you. Kiss my ass," yelled White, according to Variety.
We wish him a happy 50th none the less.
Brad Pitt, who turned 50 on Wednesday, doesn’t want to make a big fuss out of his birthday. It’s too bad, since that’s what pretty much every tabloid wants to do. But instead of going on an opulent private island getaway or partying it up at an exclusive club in Vegas (clearly, this writer has no idea what the trendy thing to do is these days), the World War Z star has spent his big day… working. Odd concept, we know.
Apparently Brad isn't that keen on celebrating this year. Or at least on talking about it.

It's Christmas in the Aniston household! The 'Friends' actress throws a pretty rockin' party.
Jennifer Aniston has celebrated the festive season by throwing another major Hollywood Christmas party, cramming her estate to the rafters with A-list stars and friends old and new. Co-hosting with her fiancé Justin Theroux, Jennifer made sure as many big Hollywood names as possible were in attendance, drawing an enviable roster of guests that included Robert Downey Jr., Chelsea Handler, Courtney Cox, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Tobey Maguire, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.
Jennifer Aniston Sure Knows How To Rock A Party.
A seasoned party-thrower and goer, Jennifer told Parade magazine her tried and tested hosting tips to make any festive bash a success. "There's usually three different kinds of chili at the tree-trimming party. There's a vegetarian chili, a turkey chili and a good ol' beef chili," the actress said. "I can't honestly say I make that, but I do make some Rice Krispies treats and hot chocolate. My best hostess tip is to have good food and really good music! We usually put on the Charlie Brown Christmas album. That's my favorite. And then we'll go to Bing Crosby and stuff like that."
The heart-shaped island has apparently been bought as a 50th birthday present for Brad by his wife
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are often cited as one of Hollywood's golden couples, but when they're buying each other gifts like this, who can really be surprised. According to reports, initially reported by The Mirror, Angelina shelled out a tidy sum on her man, spending more than $20 million on his own private island off the coast of New York City.
For Christmas, Brad will either get a dinosaur or a unicorn
The private escape, known as Petra and found 50-miles from the Big Apple, was apparently bought by Ange for Brad's 50th birthday for a reported $24 million. The island features two properties on it, both designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who Brad is said to be a massive fan of. Upon discovering that a heart-shaped island was for sale, one that featured buildings designed by Wright, Angelina had to put in an offer, one that has since been accepted.
Angelina Jolie did not purchase a heart-shaped island, called Petra, for Brad's 50th but it is still up for sale if they ever change their minds.
Brad Pitt is just a matter of weeks away from turning 50 years-old.
His other-half, Angelina Jolie, allegedly bought her beau a heart shaped island, called Petra, for $20 million to celebrate the milestone.
But it has been confirmed that the reports are absolutely false!

The Maroon 5 joked with Jimmy Kimmel about how deserving he is of the honour
Adam Levine was crowned the 'Sexiest Man Alive' by People Magazine this week, an honour that Levine himself thinks was duly deserved. Ok, he's probably not that big headed, but when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (20 Nov.) night, he was more than happy to play along with the joke and big himself up, and his sexiness.
He's sexy and he knows it
"A lot of people trivialize this sort of thing. They say it's shallow and think it's just a media stunt used to sell magazines and perpetuate the image of Hollywood being based on looks. And that's totally true," the Maroon 5 frontman joked to his host. He continued, "But I'm completely cool with that."
This film proves that all the right ingredients don't necessarily make a movie work. Even with top-drawer filmmakers and actors, this dramatic thriller simply never grabs our interest. It looks great, and everyone is giving it their all, but the story and characters remain so badly undefined that we can't identify with either.
The story's set on the US-Mexico border, where a slick lawyer (Fassbender) known as "the Counsellor" has slightly too much going on in his life. He has just proposed to his dream woman Laura (Cruz), while he's planning to open a nightclub with Reiner (Bardem). For extra cash, he's organising a massive cocaine shipment with Westray (Pitt). And it's this drug deal that goes wrong, creating a mess that engulfs Reiner and Laura, as well as Reiner's shrewd girlfriend Malkina (Diaz). As his life collapses around him, the Counsellor scrambles to salvage what he can, even as he realises that it'll be a miracle if anyone survives.
There are problems at every level of this production. McCarthy's first original script is simply too literary, putting verbose dialog into the actors mouths that never sounds like people talking to each other. Fassbender and Bardem are good enough to get away with this, but Pitt and Diaz struggle. Both Fassbender and Cruz bring out some wrenching emotions in their scenes, but their characters are never much more than cardboard cutouts. In fact, no one in this story feels like a fully fleshed-out person. And the little we know about each character makes most of them fairly unlikeable.

It is the latest in a number of incidents that filming has run into on the World War 2 picture
The upcoming, Brad Pitt-starring World War II picture Fury has been filming in the quaint surroundings of the British countryside for a number of weeks already, running into difficulties of varying degrees at different periods throughout filming. Last month, they had to issue a warning to residents of a nearby village of Shirburn, after the local police received calls from concerned citizens upon hearing guns shots and pyrotechnical blasts. Weeks later, a stuntman was injured on set after being stabbed by a bayonet, however the latest hiccup might be the most damaging for the film yet.
Brad Pitt stars in Fury
On Remembrance Sunday (10 Nov.), Britain holds a moment of silence and a day of respect for the fallen soldiers who gave their lives for their country in warfare. It is a sensitive and respected tradition in Britain and one that holds a deep significance in British culture. Sadly, this means nothing to the director of Fury, who, despite knowing full well the importance of the date, decided to shoot war scenes and scenes including Nazi soldiers anyway.
On the plus side, he is friends with Brad Pitt
George Clooney has moulded an image of himself as the nice guy around Hollywood, regularly pitching in on humanitarian projects around the world and hosting and attending fundraisers and the likes for example, but it turns out that Mr Nice has a few bad bones in his body too. In a no-holds-barred interview with Esquire for their December issue, the actor took some unexpected verbal shots at Russell Crowe and Leonardo Dicaprio.
No more Mr. Nice guy
Crowe and Clooney apparently have a long-standing feud, one that Crowe attempted to bring to an end, only for Clooney to laugh off his attempts at reconciliation. Their beef began when Crowe called the 52-year-old Clooney a "sellout" some years ago, with Clooney saying that he has shot down every attempt to win his favour since then.
