RICK ASTLEY is reportedly planning to write a Hollywood musical based around his songs.
The singer had a string of hits in the 1980s with songs such as Never Gonna Give You Up and Together Forever, but retreated from the limelight for much of the following decades.
However, he told the Times that he is keen to move into film and reads various scripts as his wife is a movie producer.
"One day I thought, 'Well, why don't I write one?' And it turned into a musical - but not for the stage. It's dominated by the songs I've written - they tell the stories - so I hooked up with a guy in California and we wrote the script together," he said
Elsewhere, it was recently reported that Astley is to replace Boy George on the forthcoming Then & Now Tour after the former Culture Club singer was jailed for 15 months.
