LATEST: Rapper Boots Riley will no longer face prosecution over his use of foul language at a recent concert in Virginia, after a judge dismissed the obscenity charge.
Riley and his group The Coup were performing at a festival in Norfolk on 21 June (08) when local police in the crowd took exception to abusive language in one of his songs.
But Riley claimed the charges - from legislation that hasn't been enforced for 26 years - were only filed against him because he is black. He also claimed that festival sponsors, FestEvents, knew about the lyrics of the song beforehand.
The case went to court on Wednesday (23Jul08) but was immediately thrown out by a judge, reports AllHipHop.com.
