Rock legend Bono will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by his pal Bruce Springsteen next month - after the Boss agreed to return the favour.

The Irish singer gave a memorable speech when Springsteen joined SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and Billy Joel in the Hall of Fame in 1999.

Bono gushed, ""He created an alternative mythology, one where ordinary lives became extraordinary," adding that Springsteen "saved music from the phonies, saved lyrics from the folkies, and saved black leather jackets from the Fonz".

So the U2 frontman will be hoping for an equally fitting salute.

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake will induct the O'JAYS, Bb King and ERIC CLAPTON will pay tribute to Buddy Guy, Rod Stewart will hail Percy Sledge and NEIL YOUNG THE PRETENDERS at the 14 March (05) ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel.
