Irish rocker Bono has slammed musicians like Dido who complain about their fame.

The U2 frontman is disgusted by artists who want to make music anonymously, insisting they wouldn't enter the industry unless they enjoyed the publicity.

He complains, "I can't stand rock stars that are like, 'I didn't want to become famous, I just wanted to make music.'

"Become a potter! there must be something of the exhibitionist inside. Celebrity is ridiculous."

Bono made the complaint in a candid interview with British Prime Minister Tony Blair's former press chief ALASTAIR CAMPBELL for TV show ALASTAIR CAMPBELL INTERVIEWS BONO on Britain's CHANNEL FIVE station last night (27OCT04).
