Bon Jovi have prevented David Bowie from landing his first U.S. number one album.

The rock group's What About Now? has edged out Bowie's comeback album The Next Day by 11,000 sales, although neither debut chalked up more than 100,000 sales in their first week.

What About Now? is Bon Jovi's fifth number one album in America, while The Next Day gives Bowie his highest ever debut at two on the Billboard 200.

Last week's chart-topper, Luke Bryan's Spring Break... Here to Party, drops to three while Christian compilation Passion: Let the Future Begin debuts at four and Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox rounds out the new top five.
