The nominations for the 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday (March 31st). They were unveiled live on CBS’s ‘The Talk’, a show which ended up receiving seven nominations including Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

The network itself received more recognitions than any other, with 62 in total including technical awards. ABC’s ‘General Hospital’ led the pack in terms of shows with a combined 28 nominations, with four of its stars in the running for the Best Actor or Actress categories.

Being an awards show for daytime TV, soap operas had a very strong showing, with ‘The Young and the Restless’ (25 nominations), ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (19) and ‘Days of our Lives’ (16) being the other shows with the most nominations. Actress, author and comedienne Betty White will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Emmys are considered to be the televisual equivalent of the Oscars (for movies) and Grammys (for music). The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Pop from 8pm EDT on Sunday, April 26th at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California.
