Live 8 organiser SIR Bob Geldof is to attract hundreds of thousands of revellers to Glasgow, Scotland to host an explosive party in honour of the country's patron saint.

Ten tonnes of high-tech fireworks are to blast from barges on the River Clyde and from building roof-tops making it a family event and top tourist attraction.

Geldof says, "The Jocks (Scots) should celebrate St Andrew's Day like Paddies (Irish) do St Patrick's Day and this is the perfect place to do it.

"This could be something truly special for Glasgow that becomes a huge annual celebration, which could then possibly roll out to the rest of Scotland."
