Live 8 organiser SIR Bob Geldof has vowed to ensure politicians stick to the aid pledges they made at last year's (JUL05) G8 summit in Scotland.

The former Boomtown Rats frontman plans to campaign against reneging officials should they fail to keep promises to donate 0.7 per cent of their nations' gross domestic product to help the world's poor.

He says, "I will be extremely active in trying to get these people thrown out of office. I sincerely hope it wouldn't be necessary."

The 54-year-old is currently in Cannes, France, where he will receive the Midem music conference Personality Of The Year award for 2006 on Monday (30JAN06).
