Universal Music is set to take over BMG Music Publishing in a 1.63 billion euro ($2 billion/GBP1.1 billion) deal. The move will unite BMG's catalogue - including Christina Aguilera, Coldplay and Robbie Williams - with Universal's, which includes SIR Elton John and Mariah Carey. The Universal-BMG company will become the largest publisher in the music industry, beating rivals EMI and Warner with well over two million songs.
