Blur rocker DAVE ROWNTREE has failed for a second time to become a London councillor - after not receiving enough votes to win a seat for the British Labour party.
The drummer stood to take a seat on the Westminster City Council but lost out to Britain's Conservative party in the by-election on Thursday (24Jul08).
Rowntree's Conservative rival, Mehfuz Ahmed, beat the rocker - who is currently training as a barrister - by 303 votes to take the Church Street seat.
Despite the two defeats, in February (08) Rowntree was selected as the prospective parliamentary Labour candidate for the Cities of London + Westminster constituency at the next general election.
