Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke suffered a breakdown because of the stress of recording his solo album - comparing his mental state to Britney Spears' infamous meltdown in 2008.
The singer's band has been on hiatus since the end of 2009, following months of promoting their third album, Intimacy.
Okereke has been concentrating on recording his solo disc, The Boxer, which is slated for a June (10) release - but he had to scrap all of his work and start over after becoming so stressed he shaved off his hair and was spiralling out of control.
Speaking to Britain's XFM radio, the rocker says, "I was doing a Britney. I'd had enough and I needed to start again - I was having a meltdown. I was attacking photographers with my umbrella and not being so good to myself... I think every album I've made is one I've wanted to make. This album represents the period last year where I was going out a lot more, DJing a lot more. This is what The Boxer represents; but there are other records I'd like to make which are more balanced."
