Despite earlier reports suggesting Tom DeLonge was no longer a member of Blink-182, the band's guitarist and co-lead vocalist has come forward to reassure their fans that he hasn't quit the punk-rock trio.

However, the mistake can't just be put down to the media publishing false reports as news of DeLonge's apparent exit from Blink-182 was first broke by his two bandmates, Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus.

The pair issued a statement on Monday (Jan 26th) to explain why Alkaline Trio guitarist Matt Skiba would fill in for DeLonge at the band's headlining performance on the final day of the three-day MusInk Tattoo & Music Festival in March in Orange County.

In their statement, Barker, who has organized the event, and Hoppus said: "We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason. A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio, we got an e-mail from his manager explaining that he didn't want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors."

They added, "No hard feelings, but the show must go on for our fans."

Blink-182
Barker[L] and Hoppus [M] released a statement that said DeLonge [R] had left "indefinitley"

Shortly after this press release started gaining widespread media attention, DeLonge quickly issued his own statement that contradicted with his bandmates. "I never quit the band," he said. "Actually, I was on the phone discussing a possible Blink-182 event in New York City when I heard the 'news.' The ONLY truth here is that I have commitments that limit my availability this year. I love Blink-182 and I'm not leaving."

DeLonge also took to instagram to inform his followers that he is still a member of Bling-182, posting, "To all the fans, I never quit the band," he wrote. "I actually was on a phone call about a Blink 182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in... Apparently those releases were 'sanctioned' from the band. Are we dysfunctional- yes. But, Christ..... #Awkward #BabyBackRibs."
