The country star rubbished rumours that he had been hitting the bottle since his divorce three months ago.
39 year old Shelton said in an interview on CMT's ‘Hot 20 Countdown’ over the weekend: “I'm not in rehab. I have to pick up a magazine every now and then to see what my alter ego, I guess, [is doing].”
Shelton and Lambert (31) announced their divorce after four years of marriage in late July this year, saying to Us Weekly at the time: This is not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.” In the aftermath of this, rumours have been abounding that Shelton is in a seriously bad way, with reports even emerging that he was battling a drinking problem after an innocuous joke at a Vegas show.

“So then, I just want y'all to know, I got nervous and I'm still nervous right now, and when I get nervous I tend to drink a little bit, okay,” he told the audience at last month’s iHeartRadio festival, while holding a red Solo cup. “I'm just being honest with you.”
But according to his new interview, nothing could be further from the truth. “I'm in a good place,” he said. “I wasn't, but I am now. It's amazing how quickly life can turn around for you. I've had some pretty cool things in recent times that have happened, and I'm loving it.”
Onlookers have also speculated that his weight loss might have something to do with his drinking – which is doubly bogus because Shelton explains that his leaner physique is simply because he’s been mowing the lawn at his home in Oklahoma all summer because of unusually heavy rain!
“I would like to sit here and tell you that I've been exercising, but I haven't been,” he joked. “I push-mow my lawn… …it’s like three feet tall out here. What happened?!”
